New Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Bows As A 729 HP Super-PHEV

The refreshed 2024 Porsche Cayenne welcomes its new and electrified Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid performance flagship this week.
When the refreshed 2024 Cayenne range was revealed back in April this year, a successor to the pure-V8 Turbo GT guise was nowhere in sight. That’s no longer the case today following the official debut of the 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid variant.
This now stands as the most powerful Cayenne model to date and, as its name aptly suggests, much of its potency is driven by a degree of electrification. To be more specific, this performance flagship variant of the refreshed Cayenne, available in both standard and Coupe bodies, is a super-PHEV (plug-in hybrid).

Visually, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid appears similar as its other stablemates. It does gain a strikingly different front bumper, for instance, plus a few other small aesthetics tweaks.
The powertrain package consists of a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, but it’s paired with an electric motor plus a sizeable 25.9 kWh battery. Combined, the package outputs a whopping 729 HP and 949 NM of twist, which in turn grants 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 3.7 seconds whilst enroute towards a 295 KM/H V-max.
Moreover, the aforementioned battery can be charged via a new 11 kW AC charging port, which grants a full recharge in 2.5 hours. This also enables anywhere between 70 KM to 82 KM of pure electric drive (based on WLTP cycles and standards).

With combined outputs of 729 HP and 949 NM, 0-100 KM/H is despatched in just 3.7 seconds in the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.

Enhanced agility, on the other hand, is granted through the standard-equipped adaptive air-suspension suite and PTV Plus. Both PDCC and rear-axle steering come as optional add-ons.
Enhanced agility comes courtesy of a two-chamber, two-valve adaptive air suspension suite that’s primed as standard, along with the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) system. Both the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and rear-axle steering, on the other hand, come as optional add-ons instead.
The Turbo E-Hybrid iteration of the refreshed Cayenne also stands apart from its stablemates thanks to a bevy of unique visual aesthetic touches. It includes a variant-specific front bumper design featuring larger intakes and air blades treated in gloss black finishing, brushed aluminium dual exhausts, red-painted brake calipers, plus body-coloured wheel arches and lower rear fascia.

On board, things look similar as what we've seen in other guises of the refreshed Cayenne. This new Turbo E-Hybrid does get more aluminium trims, GT Sport steering with drive mode button, and both Comfort and Sport seat options plus Race-Tex roof lining.
On board, the Turbo E-Hybrid cabin gets a bevy of aluminium trims in the dash and doors, Race-Tex roof lining, GT Sport steering wheel design and primed with a special drive model button, as well as the choice of 14-way Comfort or 18-way Sport power-adjustable front seats.
Other key bits present include an air-conditioned 15-watt wireless charging pad, as well as much of the other new tech seen in other iterations of the refreshed 2024 Cayenne range. The latter includes Porsche’s new display modules led by a new 12.6-inch curved digital instrument panel and 12.3-inch centre infotainment touchscreen unit.

Notably, the Turbo E-Hybrid can be had in either standard or Coupe bodystyles too.
The second of a planned trio of new hybrid versions based on the latest refreshed Cayenne model, this new Turbo E-hybrid performance flagship is set to enter most markets worldwide soon, perhaps ours too. However, a quick check online reveals that Porsche Malaysia (SDAP - Sime Darby Auto Performance) hasn’t begun offering the refreshed Cayenne in any form just yet.
Though the firm rolled out the 1,000th localised (CKD) unit of the outgoing Cayenne model back in June this year, CariCarz.com has understood that customer deliveries for which are still underway. It’s also unclear if said CKD efforts has halted, or if it will resume with this latest iteration of the Cayenne.
Nevertheless, given that the refreshed Cayenne made its regional debut during the recent Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023, we perhaps won’t have long to wait. Until then, what are your thoughts of the most powerful combustion-powered Cayenne to date? Hit the comments below…
