BMW Malaysia Adopts Gentari Charge Go Mobile EV Charger Service
-full.webp)
The Gentari Charge Go fleet of mobile EV chargers have been adopted by BMW Malaysia!
The concept of vehicle-borne mobile EV chargers isn’t new. Locally, BMW Malaysia had shown a prototype concept for which that it jointly developed with EV Connection earlier this year. Around the same time, we also got a closer look at the Charge Go effort whilst it was being field-tested by its creators Gentari.
At the BMW House of Forwardism press session held earlier today, both BMW Malaysia and Gentari have taken steps forward on this front. Together, both firms announced their partnership that sees the German automaker adopting the latter Petronas green energy subsidary’s Charge Go fleet and service.

Two of the Exora-based prototypes that we reported on prior were present, each dressed in new BMW and MINI brand liveries too. Each still packs a 30 kWh battery pack and 30 kW DC charging system.
As detailed prior, these mobile chargers come in the form of specially outfitted Proton Exora MPVs, each packing a 30 kWh battery pack to dispense up to 30 kW DC charging via CCS2 (Type 2) or CHADeMO outlets. Gentari also had a fourth unit based on a Toyota Hiace that packs a larger 60 kWh battery.
Two of these Exora MPVs from the Charge Go fleet that we sized up prior were shown at today’s event, albeit this time dressed in BMW’s blue and white and MINI’s black and yellow brand liveries respectively to reflect the newly announced partnership.
Whilst the status of the third Exora, and the aforementioned fourth Hiace unit, weren’t disclosed, both BMW Malaysia and Gentari jointly stated that up to four of these Charge Go mobile EV chargers will be operational by the end of this year.

Up to four units of these mobile EV chargers from Gentari Charge Go are set to be fleeted by the end of this year to serve BMW Malaysia and its customers.
The exact dates and timeline to have this fleet fully operational, as well as both their areas of coverage and pricing rates, all remain unconfirmed still. However, given the near-completeness of the two Exoras we saw today, we reckon it wouldn’t be long before these details are ironed out by both firms.
“We hope to inspire more players in this field to elevate their commitment to electrification, collectively enriching the local EV ecosystem,” expressed Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, upon presenting these Charge Go vehicles earlier today.
Also present to showcase these Charge Go vehicle today was CEO of Gentari Green Mobility, Shah Yang Razali, who adds, “This solution, the first of many to come from Gentari, aims to bolster range confidence, making the transition to EVs an easy one.”

No word of operations, pricing and areas of availability yet. However, given the near-completeness of the two Charge Go Exora MPVs we saw today, we reckon it won't be long before these details are announced.
Besides announcing and showcasing this partnership with Gentari, BMW Malaysia also announced its status as the leading premium EV brand in the local market. For the first eight months of this year, the firm has delivered no less that 1,557 units of EVs from all three of its brands – BMW, BMW Motorrad, and MINI.
The firm also commemorated this by teaming up with EV charging providers Gentari, ChargEV, and JomCharge in creating an unlimited-charging packages offer for Malaysian BMW and MINI EV owners. More details regarding which are available in this separate report we published earlier…
