Next-Gen BMW X2 Teaser Previews Illuminated Grille Design
The BMW X2 funky coupe SUV crossover is due for a next-gen redux soon. Ahead of its reported debut later this year, BMW has decided to utilise its official Instagram page to reveal the first-ever teaser of the next-gen X2 model, in the form of a short video teaser.
Next-gen BMW X2 teaser unveils new illuminated front grille design & stunning lighting signature
From said teaser video, we only get to see the silhouette and the lighting signature of this new model, with the latter even showcasing the new X2’s illuminated grille surround – the same design element we saw on the BMW i7. Unlike the i7’s massive, square-ish kidney grille, the one on the X2 features a more polygonal shape inspired by the facelifted X6.
As for its lighting signature, it gets a similar design we saw on the new X1, featuring a dual horizontal light element with a distinct LED graphics.
The next-gen X2 features a sportier side profile, similar to its bigger siblings
Moving to the side profile shot of this new model, it seems like the new X2 will feature a more lifted and taller stance compared to hatchback-like current-gen model. Among key differences here being the longer rear overhang, which allows its sporty roofline to be more elongated and sleeker. Said raking roofline ends with a tailgate-mounted rear spoiler, while the lower rear bumper features some textured accents – possibly indicating a presence of faux rear diffuser or something similar.
Newly-unveiled BMW X1 M35i xDrive
While no powertrain specs were revealed on this short video teaser, word around the campfire suggests that the next-gen X2 will get the same specs and underpinnings as the ongoing BMW X1. At its range-topping form, the current-gen X1 M35i xDrive is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged mill that outputs 312 HP.
The all-new BMW iX1 eDrive 30 M Sport made its Malaysian debut at the MAS2023 earlier this year
Meanwhile, rumours also suggested that the next-gen X2 will also arrive in a new all-electric guise known as the iX2 – should it follow the same nomenclature as the iX1. Similarly, we can expect the iX2 to get the same FAAR platform as the iX1, allowing it to harness a 64.7-kWh battery pack that garners it with a maximum EV range of up to 439 KM.
As for its powertrain, the top-specced iX1 eDrive 30 gets a dual-motor setup with a total system output of 308 HP, so we can expect the iX2 to get the same setup as well.
Keeping things very vague for now, BMW has yet to unveil the exact launch date for the next-gen BMW X2/iX2. However, judging from the “coming soon” caption that follows said short video teaser, perhaps it won’t take too long for this next-gen coupe SUV crossover to be fully-revealed to the world…
