Updated 2023 Mazda 3 Range Now Available – Upgraded Kit, Prices Raised Too

Bermaz quietly made the updated 2023MY version of the Mazda3 sedan and hatch available in Malaysia.
More news from Bermaz, this time involving the firm’s core Mazda brand. It appears they’ve quietly updated the price list for the fully imported (CBU) Mazda 3 range. Effective 1 Sept 2023, the firm appears to be offering the updated 2023 model year version of Mazda’s signature C-segment sedan and hatch.
As before, each bodystyle features no less than three trimline guises available – Mid, High and High Plus for the sedans, and Mid, High Plus and Ignition Edition for the hatch. Depending on which, there are a host of new and upgraded on board kit to look forward to.

Key upgrades on board include a switch from USB-A to USB-C ports, whilst higher-end guises get a larger new 10.25-inch infotainment display and a newly added wireless charging pad.
For starters, all variants sees their USB-A charging ports switched over to USB-C, whilst High variants onwards now benefit with a larger new 10.25-inch MZD Connect infotainment display screen. High Plus variants onwards have gained a wireless charging pad, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay support.
On the safety front, the biggest change comes in the addition of a new Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC), but only from the High Plus grades onwards. Lastly, an exclusive new addition in the hatchback’s Ignite Edition guise is a 12-speaker Bose audio system.

Mechanically, both the 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G 4-cyl petrol mills have been retained. Also unchanged is the model's status a fully imported (CBU) offering.
Mechanically, there are no changes to report. Both the sedan and hatch continue to harness the same 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G petrol 4-cyl powerplants as before, which delivers the same outputs of 118 HP and 153 NM (1.5-litre), and 162 HP and 213 NM (2.0-litre) to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic.
Predictably, the upgraded on board kit does entail with ‘upgraded’ price figures too. Things now start at RM149,320 for the base 1.5 Mid sedan/hatch duo, marking a sizeable RM6,000 hike. The 2.0 High Sedan also sees its figure raised by RM5,000 to RM156,059 now.
Further up the range comes the 2.0 High Plus sedan/hatch duo that also sees a RM5,000 hike to RM166,059. Lastly, the 2.0 Ignite Edition hatchback caps off the range at the top at RM175,059, marking a RM5,000 bump here too.

What has 'upgraded' too is price. Depending on variant, there's either a RM5,000 or RM6,000 hike.
Whilst kit and prices have changed, Bermaz’s after-sales package included in said prices thankfully hasn’t. Included here are both a 5-year or 100,000 KM warranty coverage and a 5-year or 100,000 KM free maintenance package.
This is perhaps a timely move by Bermaz given the rising popularity of rivals like the latest-gen Honda Civic and the recent arrival of the refreshed 2023MY Toyota Corolla. The latter Toyota now boasts a sporty new GR Sport option too, likely to fend off the RS-guised Honda rival. So which will be your choice here, folks?
