Tesla Chargers At Freeport A'Famosa is now LIVE - FREE Destination Charging
The Tesla Supercharging facility that CariCarz reported a month back at the Freeport A’Famosa Outlet was turned on for public charging yesterday. The facility which is located at Jalan Kemus/Simpang Ampat, 78000 Alor Gajah, Malaysia would house four (4) V3 Superchargers and 1 Destination Charger.
According to Tesla Malaysia, this new Supercharging station would play a key role in facilitating seamless and rapid charging for Tesla owners cross-country road trips between Malaysia and Singapore once the entire Tesla Supercharger network is completed.
To date, the total number of Supercharging stations in Malaysia stands at 4, with a collective capacity of 20 Superchargers across the country. Besides the Freeport A’Famosa Outlet, the other three stations are at Pavilion KL, Sunway Big Box in Johor and Sunway Pyramid at Selangor.
It is however good to take note that till date there are no Tesla Supercharging facilities set-up along the major highways connecting north or south-bound travel routes, not mentioning the east coast route.
For Tesla owners visiting Freeport A’Famosa Outlet, the Supercharging rate is set at RM1.25/kWh, and an idle fee of up to RM4.00 applies if all Electric Vehicle Charging Bays (EVCBs) are occupied. As for the Tesla destination chargers, its use is complimentary until further notice. Parking while charging here is also free.
According to Tesla, they aim to enhance the overall charging experience for Tesla owners through integrated support via both the vehicles and the mobile app. This includes features such as seamless navigation to charging stations, battery preconditioning, real-time monitoring of charger availability, charging status, payment processing, and technical support.
