Gentari 180kW Kempower DCFC At Petronas R&R Ulu Bernam Southbound - RM1.50/kWh

Gentari has turned on its newest EV charging station along the PLUS Highway network at KM124, Petronas R&R Ulu Bernam Southbound, as it works towards its target of having 400 EV chargers online by the end of 2023.
Three (3) electric vehicle charging bays (EVCB) powered by two (2) Kempower DCFCs with three (3) CCS2 guns producing a total output of up to 180kW would be housed in this new charging station. Depending on the vehicle's state of charge (SOC), this intelligent charger would control how much power was delivered to each charge gun.

According to Gentari, the majority of EVs on Malaysian roads that run on the 400 volt base would benefit from a maximum power of 120kW, while the 180kW output would be for vehicles with 800 volt architecture. The charging rate at this facility is fixed at RM1.50/kWh assessable via the JomCharge App.

For the comfort of its users, this EVCB is positioned close to amenities like Starbucks so they may refuel themselves during the brief downtime while their EVs are being charged.
More DCFCs along major highways are important so that users not only have more options but also feel more confident when one facility is not functioning and the next is not too far away. This is based on our experience testing the Hyundai Ioniq 6 a few months ago, when we were almost stranded at the Tapah R&R due to some issues with the DCFC at Tapah R&R Southbound and only the availability of one (1) of the two (2) ChargEV AC units (which was not well cared for).

By the way, is the government's plans to have 10,000 EV chargers by 2025 still attainable, or is it still just a pipe dream?
