BMW Group Malaysia Appoints Benjamin Nagel As New MD & CEO
BMW Group Malaysia appoints Benjamin Nagel as the new MD and CEO
BMW Group AG has appointed Benjamin Nagel as the new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BMW Group Malaysia. Effective January 1, 2024, Nagel is set to take the reins from current MD and CEO Hans de Visser, who will take on a new role away from the Bavarian automaker.
Prior to his appointment, Nagel had amassed over two decades of experience within the BMW Group, holding multiple positions for both BMW and MINI brands. Most recently serving as the Head of Sales for BMW Group South Africa since 2020, which was preceded by his role at BMW AG in Berlin as Head of Sales in 2018, Nagel showcased adept leadership in spearheading pioneering initiatives, which he is about to replicate in his newly-appointed role here in Malaysia.
Commenting on Nagel’s latest appointment, BMW Group’s senior VP Sales Regions Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa Jean-Philippe Parain said, "We are thrilled to welcome Benjamin Nagel as the new leader for BMW Group Malaysia. His extensive experience and proven track record in driving performance and innovation align seamlessly with our vision for bringing Sheer Driving Pleasure to Malaysia.”

BMW Group Malaysia's current MD & CEO Hans de Visser is set to leave his position later in Jan 2024
Set to leave his current position later next year, Hans de Visser has left a pretty big shoe to fill, as showcased by several of his significant milestones and achievements as the MD and CEO. Under his guidance, BMW Group Malaysia solidified its position as a leading premium automaker for three consecutive years, as well as becoming the number one electric vehicle provider in the country, achieving remarkable milestones in both market share and customer satisfaction.
Throughout his many years of managing BMW Group Malaysia, Hans de Visser has oversaw several new BMW and MINI models, including several electric ones that help to affirm the firm’s grip in the local EV market. The long-list includes models like the new BMW i5, BMW i7, MINI Electric Resolute, and the BMW CE 04 electric scooter, among others.
