Gentari Green Mobility currently operates 79 DC chargers across nine states including the Federal Territory and is rapidly expanding its reach in Asia Pacific.
Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari), through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility,  plans to work with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM). Together, both firms will explore the potential of developing EV charging infrastructure, in addition to value-added services like customised charging subscription plans, in order to accelerate adoption of EVs in Malaysia.

Details of the planned collaboration were revealed earlier at the launch of the Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4Matic SUV.

The newly launched Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4Matic SUV  is priced from RM485,888.

Possible charging point operations would be developed together with EV Connection (EVC). Chargers would be placed at key strategic locations throughout Malaysia to facilitate long-distance driving and give EV drivers range confidence.

Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, Shah Yang Razalli said that the company is eager to deepen its partnership with MBM to shift the EV sector to the next gear.

“Gentari is excited to expand our relationship with a like-minded partner like MBM. Gentari understands that providing long-distance range confidence is important to EV drivers.

“Therefore, as the operator of the largest DC network in the country, Gentari is committed to continue building high-powered chargers and establishing connectivity across states in Malaysia. This will directly contribute to propelling EV adoption numbers in the country, fostering a sustainable shift towards electric mobility,” he added.

According to Amanda Zhang, CEO and president of MBM, the strategic collaboration is consistent with the company's Electric only vision and represents a significant step towards sustainable mobility in Malaysia.

“We are delighted to continue our strategic partnership with Gentari, to spearhead the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Malaysia. Through our intended collaboration, we aim to explore and develop cutting-edge electric vehicle charging infrastructure and solutions, alongside value-added services such as charging subscription plans tailored for our Mercedes-Benz EV owners.

For the record, Gentari Green Mobility has established partnerships with PLUS, BMW, Proton, Lotus, and Sime Darby to explore collaborations in the deployment of green mobility infrastructure.
