Under Cheng's leadership, GWM has previously experienced remarkable growth in the Russian market, establishing it as one of the company's most successful global operations. This appointment marks an exciting new era for GWM in the ASEAN region.
Cheng's strategic vision and expertise are expected to propel the company towards even greater achievements. He aims to solidify GWM's footprint in Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia, in addition to its existing markets in Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, Brunei, and the Philippines in line with GWM’s ambitious 6+3 ASEAN plan.

With extensive experience in the automotive industry, Cheng joined GWM in 2002. He played a vital role in the success of the Russian market, leading marketing and sales efforts for Haval Russian company. In February 2023, he assumed the position of Assistant to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) at GWM headquarters.
As the President of Great Wall Motor ASEAN, Mr. Cheng is excited to contribute to the automotive industry in Thailand and the broader ASEAN region. He also acknowledges the green transition in Malaysia and aims to build a healthier xEV ecosystem in collaboration with the government. According to Cheng further, GWM Malaysia is proactively working together with the government to encourage people to embrace xEVs, to go beyond enhancing product diversity.
