GWM Ora Good Cat GT Sighted In Merdeka Day Parade - Launch Soon?

The GWM Ora Good Cat GT looks to be edging closer to its Malaysian launch after making a surprise appearance at the 68th Merdeka Day parade.
Spotted in Aqua Grey, it took part in the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry’s (MITI) convoy that marched in the Merdeka Day festivities held in Putrajaya. Certainly, sporty EV hatchback drew plenty of attention on the national stage.

GWM confirmed to local press back in April that the model was in the pipeline for Malaysia. Its Merdeka cameo, reinforced by a social post from GWM Malaysia celebrating the GT’s first parade appearance, adds weight to expectations that a launch is imminent.

As the GT badge suggests, this is a sportier take on the standard Ora Good Cat. It wears a more aggressive front bumper, carbon fibre-style side skirts, flared wheel arches, a rear diffuser and a larger spoiler with GT branding. It rides on 18-inch alloys, with yellow highlights on the wheels, mirror caps, brake callipers, bumpers and spoiler.
The Aqua Grey finish displayed at the parade is one of two colours available in Thailand, the other being Sun Black. Both pair the paintwork with contrasting yellow accents that set the GT apart from the standard Good Cat.

Inside, the yellow detailing continues across the dashboard and suede-trimmed seats, with GT-embossed headrests giving the cabin a sportier flair. Features such as the 10.25-inch infotainment display, ventilated and massaging front seats, and suede-leather upholstery remain.
Performance sees an upgrade too. The GT still runs a single front-mounted motor producing 169 HP and 250 Nm, compared to 141 HP and 210 Nm in the standard model. Power comes from a 57.7 kWh LFP battery with up to 460 km of NEDC-rated range.

For reference, the Ora Good Cat in Malaysia is currently sold in two trims. The 400 Pro uses a 47.8 kWh LFP battery for 400 km of range, while the 500 Ultra is fitted with a larger 63.1 kWh NMC battery capable of 500 km.
Now, where the GT variant will fit into the line-up or any of the existing variants will be dropped remains to be seen. But with its Merdeka cameo, anticipation for the Ora Good Cat GT’s launch has never been higher.
