BYD Seal EV Online Pre-Booking Opens – 3 Variants, RM1K Fee
Malaysians can now place an online pre-booking for the new BYD Seal EV at a RM1,000 pre-booking fee.
Following an extensive teaser campaign, the much-anticipated BYD Seal EV is now open for pre-booking in Malaysia. For the Malaysian market, the Seal will arrive in three variants, namely Dynamic, Premium, and Performance, with their prices yet to be announced by the marque.
BYD Seal Dynamic RWD
Starting with Dynamic, this baseline variant of the Seal EV sports a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) powertrain setup. Rated at 201 HP (150 kW) and 310 NM, this setup is good enough to propel this EV saloon from nought to 100 KM/H in 7.5 seconds. Battery-wise, the Seal Dynamic is juiced by a 61.4-kWh Blade LFP battery that offers the sedan up to 510 KM of EV range (NEDC). On a more realistic WLTP test, however, said figure drops slightly to 460 KM.
BYD Seal Premium RWD
Sitting between the Dynamic and Performance is the mid-spec Premium variant, which also uses the same single-motor RWD setup as the former, albeit with a higher state-of-tune. Now outputting 308 HP (230 kW) and 360 NM, the Seal Premium is good for a 0-100 KM/H sprint finish in 5.9 seconds. Juiced by a bigger 82.5-kWh LFP battery pack, this mid-spec model boasts a claimed WLTP EV range of 570 KM.
BYD Seal Performance AWD
Moving on to the Seal’s range-topping variant, the Performance model is the only one to get a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. With a total system output of 523 HP (390 kW) and 670 NM, this souped-up EV saloon can blast from nought to 100 KM/H in just 3.8 seconds. Despite using the same 82.5-kWh battery pack as the Premium model, the Seal Performance gets a lower maximum EV range at 520 KM (WLTP).
Besides the three variants, customers also get to choose four different colourways for the Seal EV. The Dynamic model gets only two colourways, Cosmos Black and Aurora White, while the Atlantis Grey hue is reserved for the top two variants. Meanwhile, the top-spec Performance model gets a special Arctic Blue colourway – bringing in a total of four colour options for the Seal.
Those who are keen to place a pre-book for the BYD Seal EV can visit BYD Malaysia’s official website with a booking fee of RM1,000, with said booking fee will be factored into the price of the car. As of now, SDBA has yet to reveal the official pricing for the Seal EV, though initial tentative prices are expected to range from RM180,000 to RM220,000 – thus putting it head-to-head against the Tesla Model 3.
