Denza Officially Enters Malaysia Via Sime Darby, BYD Malaysia

Chinese premium electric vehicles (EV) are making a strong impact in Malaysia, with multiple brands entering the scene. Following XPeng’s G6 debut in Aug and Zeekr’s upcoming launch of the X and 009 models later this month, BYD is now preparing to introduce its Denza luxury sub-brand and its first offering - the 09.
In a significant step forward, BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. held an official signing ceremony at Sunway Resort Hotel, where Sime Darby Auto Imports Sdn Bhd was appointed as the official importer of Denza. As for distribution, BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd was appointed instead.

This partnership further strengthens the relationship between BYD and Sime Darby, which has seen the successful sale of 10,000 BYD EVs in Malaysia since its debut. Now, Sime Darby is expanding its role as the official importer for Denza, marking a new phase in its collaboration with BYD.
Rumors of Denza’s entry have been circulating for some time, with the semi-camouflaged Denza D9 MPV undergoing real-world testing across Malaysia.

Now, with the official signing, BYD is set to bring Denza’s cutting-edge technology, luxury, and sustainability to Malaysians. The D9 MPV, with its spacious interior and premium tech akin to the Zeekr 009, is expected to lead the brand's entry, offering a compelling choice for discerning drivers seeking both luxury and innovation.
According to Liu Xueliang, General Manager of the Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division at BYD, "Denza will redefine the premium EV experience and set new standards for Malaysian drivers."

Meanwhile, Dennis Ho, Managing Director of Assembly and Strategic Businesses at Sime Darby Motors, echoed this sentiment, calling the partnership "a momentous milestone."
Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., meanwhile stated, "The rapid adoption of EVs in Malaysia is a testament to the country’s progress in embracing a cleaner, greener future."

As BYD prepares for Denza’s official launch, Malaysian drivers can anticipate a premium, high-tech EV experience that sets a new benchmark in the local market. However, there has been no indication from BYD regarding whether they will act on the recent call by MITI Minister Tengku Zafrul to establish CKD operations in Malaysia.
Such a move could further solidify the brand’s presence and competitiveness in the market, though no plans have been announced yet.
