Launched: BYD Seal Dynamic RWD – 61.44 kWh Battery, Up To 510 KM Range, From RM163,800

The BYD Seal EV saloon range was expanded with a newly added Dynamic RWD variant launched earlier today.
Earlier this year, the BYD Malaysia arm of Sime Darby Motors had already launched the highly anticipated BYD Seal EV saloon range with two variants on hand – Premium RWD and Performance AWD. Now, said model’s range has been expanded further with a newly added Dynamic RWD guise.
The Dynamic RWD is effectively the base entry-level guise of BYD’s sleek four-door saloon. “Our goal is to make EVs accessible to everyone, and this new variant marks another step in that direction,” said Eagle Zhao, MD of BYD Malaysia during the model’s launch held in Bukit Jalil earlier today.

Just two paintjob options - black and white - are offered for the Dynamic RWD variant. It's also easily distinguished by its slightly smaller 18-inch rolling stock.
With its exterior aesthetics, the new BYD Seal Dynamic RWD mirrors its higher-specced stablemates on this front. The only noticeable differences here stem from the slightly smaller yet distinct 18-inch alloy wheels and just two exterior paintjob options available – Cosmos Black and Aurora White.
On board, the cabin of the new Dynamic RWD variant also appears unchanged from the other two variants mentioned, as well as its kit list. Key highlights of the latter include the 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, 12-speaker Dynaudio suite, built-in PM2.5 filter, and more.
The real differences lie in the battery capacity and both its charging speed and claimed range, along with the single e-motor’s outputs and subsequent performance. Starting with the latter, the new Dynamic RWD boasts 201 HP and 310 NM, altogether enabling 0-100 KM/H dashes in 7.1 seconds.

Apart from the battery and e-motor, the remaining specifications for the Dynamic RWD variant of the BYD Seal mirrors its Premium RWD and Performance AWD stablemates.
Juicing said e-motor is a smaller 61.44 kWh iteration of BYD’s signature ‘Blade’ LFP-type battery pack, which typically accepts 7 KW AC charging inputs and a lower maximum DC charging input of 110 kW (versus 150 kW in the other variants). The latter fast-charging method sees 0-80% re-charges attained in 45 minutes.
As for range, BYD touts up to 510 KM based on the NEDC test cycle. However, if you prefer the arguably more ‘realistic’ WLTP cycle, a figure of 460 KM is being touted by overseas sources.
Apart from what we just detailed, the rest of the this new base-spec Dynamic RWD variant appears unchanged from its higher-specced stablemates. It continues to feature built-in V2L functionality, a sizeable and practical 400-litre boot space plus connected functions via the BYD smartphone app.
Unchanged too are the slew of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features primed as standard that’s powered by a high-resolution 360-degree camera system, amongst other sensors laced around the vehicle.

In Dynamic RWD guise, the BYD Seal commands a starting price tag of RM163,800 sans insurance.
As for price, the new BYD Seal Dynamic RWD is priced at RM163,800, and said price includes a 6-year or 150,000 KM base vehicle warranty, as well as both an 8-year or 160,000 KM EV battery warranty and 8-year or 150,000 KM EV drive unit warranty.
Moreover, BYD Malaysia are offering early birds purchasing the BYD Seal Dynamic RWD with a complimentary wallbox home charger unit. However, take note that this promotion is limited to just the first 100 bookings only.
