JB Motorists Face Increased Congestion Due To RTS Link Construction
-full_normal.jpg)
According to Johor Bahru's mayor, Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman, city residents should expect increased traffic congestion in the second and third quarters (Q2 and Q3) of this year as construction on the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link ramps up.
Numerous road closures are expected between April and Sept to accommodate the cross-border rail project connecting Johor Bahru and Singapore.

Mohd Noorazam acknowledged that the construction would exacerbate existing traffic congestion, but reassured the public that efforts are being made to mitigate the impact.
Despite ongoing congestion on key city centre roads such as Jalan Abdullah Ibrahim, Jalan Wong Ah Fook, and Jalan Tebrau caused by construction and high vehicle volume, the mayor expressed a commitment to addressing the situation.

Furthermore, discussions are underway with KTM Bhd to improve connectivity after the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track project (EDTP) completes next year.
Mohd Noorazam emphasised the goal of providing seamless connectivity for passengers upon arrival at the station, facilitating transportation to suburban areas via public transport and park-and-ride facilities, similar to the RTS Link approach.
