National carmaker Proton saw its Feb 2024 sales efforts chart continued positive growth across all areas.

National carmaker Proton ended the month of Feb 2024 by charting positive sales growth trajectory. The firm revealed that it shifted no les than 13,602 units last month, with said effort raising its year-to-date (YTD) sales volume by 3% over the same period last year.

“Proton has continued its positive trajectory in the second month of the year with sales underpinned by consistent domestic demand as well as increasing export growth,” said Proton’s Deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah regarding this growth.

The Saga continues to lead things and over 6,000 units were sold last month - 6,212 units in total.

Other staple volume sellers include the Persona and X50, both charting 1,859 and 1,816 units shifted respectively in Feb 2024 alone.

According to Proton, this positive growth is noteworthy considering the traditionally slow pace of business during the start of the year. Nevertheless, the automaker estimates total industry volume (TIV) growing by 13.8% over the same period last year.

Predictably, Proton’s entry-level Saga sedan continues to lead its sales with 6,212 units in total shifted, breaking the 6,000 units monthly barrier for a fifth consecutive month. Combined, Saga sales through Jan and Feb this year totals at 12,341 units – 10.9% more compared to last year.

Elsewhere, Proton’s Feb 2024 sales were also driven by the likes of the Persona, as well as both the new X90 and S70 models. The Persona continues to boost Proton’s presence in the B-segment sedans space with 1,859 units shifted last month.

Pent up demand saw sales of the new S70 sedan surge tremendously by 60.5% with 2,314 units shifted in Feb 2024.

As for the new X90 and S70, the former flagship D-segment three-row SUV saw 374 units shifted in Feb 2024, marking a 2.5% growth from its Jan 2024 sales figure. The S70 sedan, on the other hand, saw pent up demand fuel a 60.5% sales surge from Jan 2024 to see 2,314 units shifted last month.

Besides which, the X70 SUV saw an uptick of 19.6% to 445 units whilst the Iriz hatch added 3.8% to close at 543 units. Though production has ended, the Exora MPV still charted 39 units shifted in Feb. To date, over 194,250 units of the model have been sold.

Beyond the local market, Proton also highlights a surge in export sales in Feb 2024 too, which leapfrogged by 223% to 346 units compared to Jan 2024. As for YTD export figures, this latest surge also sees that figure grow by 50.5%.

“Our export markets will be an important area of growth in 2024 and we also have high expectations for the Proton S70 to dominate its segment as deliveries continue to ramp up in the coming months,” adds Roslan who is also serving as CEO of the automaker’s Proton Edar arm.
