Proton Oct 2024 Sales Up 13.6%, YTD Total Surpasses 125,000 Units
Oct 2024 proved to be a productive month for national automaker Proton as it shifted 12,799 units in total.
Oct 2024 saw national automaker Proton close on a high once again as it shifted a total 12,799 units – both domestically and abroad. This marks 13.6% increase from its Sept 2024 sales, whilst its total year-to-date (YTD) sales now stands at 125,557 units.
The evergreen Proton Saga continues to be the marque’s best-seller with 6,112 units shifted in Oct 2024, bringing said nameplate’s total YTD sales in 2024 to 60,178 units. This puts the Saga as Malaysia’s third best-selling car and its sales are expected to exceed 70,000 units this year again.
Key drivers for Proton in Oct 2024 include models like the Saga (top), recently refreshed X50 RC (left) and the S70 (right).
The Geely-based Proton X50, on the other hand, continue to stand as the marque’s second best-selling model. It still leads the B-segment SUVs space with 2,122 units shifted throughout Oct 2024, whilst its YTD total now stands at 19,122 units thus far.
Moving to the Proton S70, the value-for-money C-segment sedan offering continues to lead its segment as well in Oct 2024. During which, 1,432 units were shifted, thus bringing its YTD total up to 16,200 units.
The image below ought to paint a bigger overall picture of Proton’s Oct 2024 sales:
“The final quarter of 2024 will be a challenging time for automotive players. An influx of new brands and products together with the drive to meet sales targets and end the year strongly will see multiple offers for new car buyers,” notes Proton deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah.
He added that in the short term, this will result in a second consecutive year where the Total Industry Volume (TIV) exceeds 800,000 units, but this will create an unsustainable long-term business strategy and affect residual values.
Considering which, Roslan also noted that Proton remains focused in ensuring it preserves the value of customers’ cars by raising product quality and rendering class-leading sales and service experiences through the automaker’s network of 157 3S and 4S centres nationwide.
Looking ahead, Proton is set to chart another high in the final quarter of 2024 with the upcoming launch of the its first EV, the Proton e.MAS 7, in Dec.
Looking ahead, Proton looks set to cap the final quarter of 2024 in yet another high note through the highly anticipated launch if its first ever all-electric offering, the Proton e.MAS 7. The upcoming EV crossover is now opened for bookings with an estimated starting price of RM120,000.
Two variants will be available once the model officially launches in Dec this year, likely during or just after the upcoming KLIMS 2024 expo.
