MCE Auto Hub Operational In 2025 - RM200M Regional Auto & EV E&E Manufacturer
MCE Holdings Bhd., through its wholly owned subsidiary Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd. (MCEI), has begun construction on its new manufacturing facility, the MCE Auto Hub, in Serendah. This facility's initial phase will cost RM50 million and will cover an area of eight acres.
Once operational, the MCE Auto Hub will serve as the company's major manufacturing facility, enhancing its capabilities to deliver innovative electronic components and systems for both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles (EV), emphasising on advanced automotive electronics such as cockpit infotainment systems and digital displays.
The groundbreaking ceremony at the UMW High Value Manufacturing Park was attended by the Minister of Investment Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, YB Ng Sze Han, Selangor State EXCO of Investment, Trade and Mobility, Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Dr. Goh Kar Chun, MCE's Group MD and other notable guests.
In his speech, YB Tengku Zafrul praised MCEI for their proactive involvement in promoting Malaysia's automotive sector, which is consistent with both the government and MITI’s goals in supporting innovation and growth.
He went on to say that MCE Auto Hub will play a significant role in strengthening Malaysia's automotive industry, which generates RM40 billion in national GDP and employs 700,000 people. He also highlighted the hub's potential to establish Malaysia as a regional leader in automotive electronics production, which is consistent with NIMP2030 and the National Automotive Policy.
Meanwhile, Shamsul emphasised the hub's contribution to economic growth, job creation, and innovation, namely by boosting the EV ecosystem and enhancing the localization of automotive electronic component production.
Dr. Goh commended MITI, MIDA, MARii, and local authorities for their continued assistance and direction, which he attributed to the company's success. He stated MCE's ambition to become a regional leader in the automotive electronics and mechatronics parts market, using Malaysia's established electrical and electronics (E&E) industry to boost manufacturing capacity.
The Serendah project illustrates MCE's commitment to staying abreast of global digital trends and the burgeoning EV market. The company also plans to invest a further RM150 to RM200 million over the next decade. The first phase of the new plant's development is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with operations starting in 2025.
