Negeri Sembilan Govt. Replaces Ageing Honda Accords With Toyota Camrys
The Negeri Sembilan government has decided to purchase a fleet of Toyota Camry saloons to replace its current fleet Honda Accord government cars. These will be fleeted for use by all state executive council members, says to Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
"Apart from the exco members, the State Speaker, State Secretary, State Legal and Financial Officers, and the Mufti will also receive new cars. We have ordered 16 units, with deliveries set to occur in stages," he announced.
Each Camry approximately costs RM206,000, which is the standard market price, Aminuddin noted. "We did not receive any tax exemptions," he added. He further clarified that state excos are technically entitled to new cars every 48 months.
The decision to purchase new cars was driven by the high maintenance costs of the ageing Honda Accord fleet. We at CariCarz.com believe another reason why the Camry was opted boils down to the fact that Honda Malaysia had elected to exit the D-segment space and not introduce a new generation Accord model.
Regarding the fate of the Honda Accords it will soon de-fleet, Aminuddin said that previous exco members would be given the first dibs to acquire them as they had previously used the cars. They would however be required to pay an unspecified amount for the vehicles. Afterwhich the balance would be auctioned off.
These Honda Accord government fleet cars were initially acquired and delivered to the exco members and ex-officios six years ago in September 2018.
