Yesterday, social media was abuzz by an X (formerly Twitter) posting by a motorcyclist who suffered injuries to his face after coming in contact with what he described as a ‘stretched thread’ whilst traversing through the Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway (SUKE).
According to Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail, the incident took place on the SUKE stretch just after the Taman Kosas exit. He has reportedly requested the victim to file a report at the nearest police station and urged witnesses to come forward with information.
In the meantime, Azam adds that PDRM will conduct preliminary investigations and seek a meeting with SUKE highway operators Prolintas for further action. Additionally, SUKE operators Prolintas has also issued a statement regarding the incident.
In their statement, said highway concessionaires iterated their commitment to fully cooperate with PDRM in their investigations. It also says it has begun its own internal probe of the matter, and will submit any and all findings to PDRM.

Statement issued by Prolintas, SUKE operators, regarding the 'wire trap' incident that went viral earlier this week.
Additionally, the highway operator announced that it will be increasing patrols along the motorway and that any dangerous activity, such as kite flying, will be reported to the police right away.
“We will also work closely with local residents’ associations to enhance safety measures and prevent such incidents,” adds Prolintas.
Earlier this week, the victim of this supposed ‘wire trap’ shared his experience on X (formerly Twitter) two days ago. It garnered much traction online, and was widely shared by many local netizens.
Amongst the users sharing included notable figures such as Lembah Jaya assemblyman Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as Altimet. In his shared post, Altimet also committed to follow up on the matter with the Ampang Jaya district Police. KR
