Kia EV9 Makes First Public Debut at The Exchange TRX

The all-new Kia EV9 makes its first public appearance in Malaysia at The Exchange TRX from June 12 to 16.
Just one month after making its Malaysian debut, the all-new Kia EV9 is making its first public appearance at The Exchange TRX. Kia’s new flagship EV SUV is also the first automotive product to be launched at the world-class experiential lifestyle destination in the heart of Tun Razak Exchange, Kuala Lumpur's international financial district.

As Kia’s new flagship EV SUV, the Kia EV9 boasts all the latest and greatest features available. This includes the brand’s new “Opposites United” design philosophy, highlighted by the signature sleek Y-shaped lighting units flanked by the signature “Digital Tiger Face” at the front, the ‘“Star Map” lighting featured on its LED DRLs, and many more.

The EV9 is the recipient of both the 2024 World Car of the Year and Red Dot Product Design 2024 awards.
As for the battery and powertrain tech, the Kia EV9 underpins the same E-GMP platform used on many other Kia EVs, granting it exceptional range and driving performance. Combined with the bold design mentioned earlier, the Kia EV9 has racked up many international accolades since its inception in 2023, including the 2024 World Car of the Year and the Best of the Best Award in Cars and Motorcycle category by Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024.

For our market, Dinamikjaya Motors, a subsidiary of Bermaz Auto (BAuto) and distributor of the Kia brand in Malaysia, has introduced two GT-Line variants of the EV9, with one featuring a 6-seat layout and the other a 7-seat layout instead. Both variants get the same dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup rated at 380 HP and 700 NM, while being juiced by a sizable 99.8-kWh battery pack.

This powertrain setup allows the sub-3-tonne EV9 GT-Line to accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in just 5.3 seconds, plus an electronically capped 200 KM/H V-Max. As for the range, its sizable battery pack allows the EV9 to cruise at up to 505 KM (WLTP) on a single full charge. Speaking of charging, the EV9 GT-Line supports DCFC at up to 350 KW and a standard 11 kW AC charging, with the former allowing a 10-80% charge in just 24 minutes.

The EV9’s striking and sizable exterior is matched with equally spacious and tech-laden cabin space, with key tech highlights including the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen display, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, panoramic sunroof, digital side-mirror cameras, and leatherette seat covers made from recycled materials.

Separating the two variants are the second-row seat types, with the 6-seater model getting the more luxurious twin Relaxation Seats that come with massage and Ottoman supports. Meanwhile, the 7-seater model settles for a more conventional three-seat bench with 60:40 split-folding capabilities.

As expected in Kia’s flagship EV SUV model, the EV9 gets a host of active and passive safety features. Focusing on the former, the EV9’s active safety suite includes ADAS functions like High Beam Assist, Parking Collision Avoidance Assist (front, rear, and side), Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, and many more.

Now open for booking, the Malaysian-spec Kia EV9 starts at RM369,668 for the GT-Line 7-seater variant, while the range-topping GT-Line 6-seater model commands a higher price tag of RM374,668. Included in both prices is a 5-year or 150,000 KM vehicle warranty, as well as an 8-year or 160,000 KM EV battery warranty.
As we mentioned earlier, the all-new Kia EV9 will be showcased at the Kia Exclusive Showcase, which will take place from June 12 to 16th (Wednesday–Sunday) at Central Exchange, The Exchange TRX, from 10 AM to 10 PM.
