Putrajaya P15H Slip Road Now Open, No Highway Lane Closure During Aidiladha
Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Works, today officiated the handover ceremony of the 300-metre-long slip road project from Jalan P15H to Persiaran Timur in Putrajaya to Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territory).
According to Nanta, the slip road construction which began on Dec 29, 2020, was only completed on May 15 of this year, after numerous hurdles along the way.
The biggest hurdle for the RM12.63 million project was the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the project's position along the main utility corridor in Persiaran Timur, Putrajaya, which had an indirect impact on the project's completion schedule.
This project includes the installation of a drainage system, environmental conservation, and upgraded traffic signals at the P15H intersection.
According to Nanta, this slip road would be able to reduce traffic congestion on Precinct 15's main road (Roundabout 5 intersection) during peak hours and provide an alternative route to nearly 35,000 people at Precinct 15, and the surrounding areas to government offices in Putrajaya.
On a separate note, Nanta stated that there will be no highway closures for maintenance work during the Aidiladha celebrations from June 12 to 19, unless it was an emergency.
Furthermore, highway concessionaires have been encouraged to activate smart lanes at specific areas to improve traffic flow. The Highway Authority (LLM) would also monitor the advocacy to motorists on smart lanes and their effectiveness for future improvements.
