Malaysian badminton duo Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik won the country's first medal at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics. The pair pipped Denmark duo Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup in a nail-biting Bronze medal match for the Men's Double badminton category last night and brought home their second consecutive Olympic Bronze medal after their Tokyo 2020 podium finish.

Paris 2024 Olympics Bronze medallists Aaron Chia & Soh Wooi Yik are set to bring home the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.
For their heroic effort, it appears that both Chia and Soh won’t just bring home their second-ever Olympic Bronze medals, as the duo are also slated to bring home the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro SUV. While we’re not sure whether the pair won an SUV each or if they’ll have to share one, this gift is part of Chery Malaysia’s campaign to support Malaysian athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Partnered with the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the Wuhu-based automaker pledged to award our national heroes at the Paris 2024 Olympics with some of its SUV models, such as the Tiggo 8 Pro for Gold medal winners, the Omoda E5 EV for Silver medallist, and the Tiggo 7 Pro for those who won the Bronze medal.
“At Chery, we’re thrilled to elevate our Malaysian Tigers’ journey with our beautiful cars, celebrating their dedication and the pride they’ve given us,” reads Chery Malaysia’s official statement.

Chery Auto Malaysia President Leo Chen
"We know they have put in the hard work and long hours of training for the games. We have high hopes that this year, Malaysia will achieve the coveted gold medal that the nation has been eyeing," said Chery Auto Malaysia President Leo Chen during the launch event of this campaign earlier this year.
Besides Chia-Soh, other Malaysian athletes competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics could also stand a chance to bring Chery SUVs home for themselves. For badminton, the nation’s eyes are now focusing on the Men’s Singles badminton bronze match, where national badminton ace Lee Ji Zia will take on India’s Lakshya Sen later today.
Meanwhile, the fight for Malaysia's first Olympic Gold still goes on, with track cycling events set to become favourites aside from badminton. Leading Malaysia’s track cyclist contingent is former world champion Datuk Azizulhasni Awang, cordially known as the ‘Pocket Rocket Man’, who previously clinched the Silver medal at Tokyo 2020 in the Men’s Keirin event.
