Jaecoo J7 CKD – First 500 Units Delivered to Dealers
Jaecoo Malaysia delivered the first 500 units of the locally-assembled Jaecoo J7 to its dealers yesterday.
Ever since the brand introduction a few months ago, Jaecoo Malaysia has been quite rapid and progressive in its brand expansion strategy here in our market. And now, less than a month after launching its first product, the Chinese automaker has recently delivered the first 500 units of the Jaecoo J7 luxury off-roading SUV to its dealers nationwide.
The first 500 units of the J7 are all locally-assembled (CKD) at the Chery Corporate Malaysia production facility in Shah Alam, which just started its operation a couple of months ago.
According to Jaecoo Malaysia, all 500 first delivery units of the J7 are the top-spec all-wheel drive (AWD) variant, which is priced lower than expected at RM148,800 on-the-road. Meanwhile, the baseline J7 two-wheel drive (2WD) model, which is slated to begin deliveries later in Sept this year, is tagged lower at RM138,800 on-the-road, making them one of the most affordable C-segment SUVs in our market.
“It has been a great year for Jaecoo, beginning with an exciting preview period that led to an overwhelmingly positive reception during the official launch of the J7. We are very excited to deliver the first 500 units of our J7, and we are equally excited to place customers in the driver’s seat of Malaysia’s hottest premium off-road SUV,” said Chery Corporate Malaysia executive vice president, Leo Chen.
“Our focus is on maintaining a steady momentum of delivering orders for the J7 in the coming months. We are also very happy to share that our network is ready to immerse our customers in the Jaecoo “From Classic, Beyond Classic” premium customer experience, from vehicle handovers to after-sales service,” said Jaecoo Malaysia vice president, Emily Lek.
Despite its relatively affordable price, the Jaecoo J7 positioned itself as a more premium alternative to the current crop of C-SUVs in our market, thanks to its stylish, Land Rover-inspired design, the high-quality level of the interior fit and finish, and the abundance of tech amenities inside out.
The Jaecoo J7 combines Chery's tried-and-tested 1.6-litre TGDi engine with its proprietary ARDIS AWD system to make it an off-road-ready premium SUV.
Power is provided by a familiar 194 HP and 290 NM-rated 1.6-litre 4-cyl TGDi engine that is also used on the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, which is mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. Depending on the variant, power is sent to either the front wheels (FWD) or all of them (AWD), with the latter via Jaecoo’s proprietary All Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS) AWD setup that features seven terrain driving modes.
Not to mention, both variants are offered with the same comprehensive 7-year or 150,000 KM vehicle warranty. Ready to provide support to owners is Jaecoo Malaysia’s nationwide dealer network, which currently comprises 35 locations across the country, not to mention both the dedicated production facility and parts warehouse.
