Motorcyclists Heading To Malaysia Can Use QR Code To Clear Singapore Checkpoints

Beginning on August 15, motorcycle riders and pillion riders using the Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints to enter Malaysia will be able to clear immigration by using QR codes. This move is a component of ICA's initiative to offer passport-free immigration clearance services to travelers.
Instead of scanning two passports for immigration clearance, motorcyclists and their pillion riders can present a single group QR code, according to a statement released by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) on August 13.
Similar procedures apply to those who travel by car, wherein up to ten passengers can have their immigration clearance processed with a single QR code.
For the record, since the end of July, Malaysian motorcyclists have been able to clear immigration with facial recognition or QR codes using the MyBorderPass app when entering or leaving Johor Baru at the Sultan Iskandar Building checkpoint via the Causeway.
The ICA also reminded travelers that even though using a QR code can expedite clearance, they should still bring their passports with them for verification at Malaysian checkpoints.

The Biometric Identification of Motorbikers (Bikes) system has been improved, ICA added. At immigration counters, light strips have been installed to provide visual cues that indicate whether or not a rider's fingerprint has been successfully captured.
To utilize QR code clearance, Singaporeans must download the MyICA Mobile app. They can choose to have Singpass fill in their information automatically in order to produce a QR code.
