Launched: Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 – CKD, RM267,990 (With VAP)

Ahead of this month's Golf Fan Fest 2024 gathering, VPCM have made the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 CKD special available locally.
We saw this coming a while back, and it’s now official. Ahead of the upcoming Golf Fan Fest 2024 gathering event slated for later this month, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) officially announced the availability of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 special today.
In Edition 50 form, the localised (CKD) hot hatch gains a slew of exclusive accessories added. Highlights include a full Oettinger aerokit comprised of black-finished front splitter, roof spoiler and diffuser. Other key exterior touches include black-painted side mirror caps plus “Edition 50” VW Tint.
These are then matched up with gloss black 18-inch ‘Pretoria’ lightweight wheels with ‘GTI’ Dynamic centre caps and VW Design aluminium valve caps. The racy exterior is then completed with commemorative Edition 50 exterior trims comprised of Edition 50 exterior emblems plus racy decals on the doors inspired by the hot hatch’s signature honeycomb front grille motif.

Besides its exclusive Oryx White paintjob options, the GTI Edition 50 also sports commemorative emblems and a racy decals running down its doors.

Also exclusive to this special are its 19-inch 'Pretoria' lightweight wheels finished in gloss black. These also boast special GTI centre caps and VW Design aluminium valve caps.

Also part of this special's exterior treatment is its adoption of a factory-fitted Oettinger full aerokit which adds a front splitter, rear diffuser and rear spoiler finished in gloss black.
The commemorative special trims continue inside as the Edition 50’s cabin is decked out in Edition 50 side scuff plates, carpet mats, and “50” emblem in the centre spoke of the steering wheel. Apart from which, much of the base Golf GTI model's innards remain. As a refresher, the Pekan-built Golf GTI received a minor upgrade earlier this year.
Unchanged too is powertrain, and the Edition 50 special continues to see the same 2.0-litre TSI 4-cyl turbo petrol mill plonked up front delivering 245 PS and 370 NM. Said mill is paired with a 7-speed DSG wet dual-clutch automatic box that sends power to the front wheels, altogether promising 0-100 KM/H dashes in just 6.3 seconds.
Key features retained also include the IQ.Drive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as a 480-watt 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio suite, amongst many.

Inside, the Golf GTI Edition 50 special also wears commemorative "50" emblem in its steering wheel's centre spoke. It also gains Edition 50 carpet mats and side scuff plates. Lastly, it also boasts "Edition 50" VW Tint primed.
The GTI is already such an exceptional model, and the Edition 50’s upgrades certainly adds a unique touch that makes it a collectible item. We believe that the Edition 50 will appeal to those in the GTI’s already passionate fanbase looking for that something extra special,” says VPCM’s managing director Denyu Bostandzhiev.
Available exclusively in either Oryx White and Moonstone Grey paintjob options, the VW Golf GTI Edition 50 is tagged at RM267,990. Said price includes the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) offered by VPCM, which entails with 5-year unlimited mileage maintenance, warranty and roadside assistance.
Additionally, the VW Golf GTI Edition 50 will see limited units available, though VPCM hasn’t stated how many units it intends to allocate. Nevertheless, keen prospects can view the new VW Golf GTI Edition 50 up close during the upcoming Golf Fan Fest 2024 event mentioned where it will be showcased.
