Loke Hopes My50 Initiative Extends Into 2025, Daily Users Exceed 1.1 Million

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has expressed hope that the My50 initiative will be extended into the coming year through the 2025 Budget, which is set to be presented in Oct.
According to Loke, the My50 initiative's significant impact is thanks to the bump in budget allocation from RM100 million to RM200 million in the previous year's budget. He also highlighted the growing popularity of the My50 pass, which now boasts over 200,000 active users each month.

Approximately 900,000 people use rail services in the Klang Valley every day on average, according to Loke's statement at the recent Parking Space Sale Agreement event between Coronade Properties Sdn Bhd and Malaysia Rapid Transit System (MRTS). We observe more than 1.1 million people using public transport every day when combined with bus services.
In order to improve accessibility for city dwellers, he emphasised the government's ongoing commitment to upgrading the public transport system, especially in the Klang Valley. Nevertheless, he asserted that certain aspects of the system still needed to be improved in order to completely solve the traffic congestion problems in the Klang Valley.

Furthermore, he expressed optimism that the Ministry of Finance will evaluate the many initiatives and projects presented by the Ministry of Transport for the 2025 budget.
The My50 scheme, which provides an unlimited travel pass for RM50 per month, allows customers to utilise Prasarana's rail and bus services in the Klang Valley, which is a lifeline for many city dwellers.

In addition to reducing traffic congestion, the My50 initiative contributes to the government's larger goals of increasing public transport use, lowering carbon emissions, and improving urban quality of life.
