As per the data sourced from Yiche, BYD emerged as the third most popular brand globally in July of this year. With the exception of the US, the Chinese brand's electric vehicle products are currently available almost everywhere. According to the data, BYD was slightly over 30,000 vehicles behind second-place Volkswagen and sold almost half as many vehicles as Toyota, which was in first place.

The top two brands are Volkswagen (346,200) and Toyota (651,200), but BYD is a close third at 315,600, according to reporting from Carnewschina. With 112,400 units sold worldwide in July of last year, Tesla is ranked thirteenth. About two thirds of BYD's sales were hybrids, according to the company's August earnings call, but overall EV sales increased by 12%.
Not many other Chinese brands appear to have cracked the top 10, but Chery, with 71,100 in sales, came in at number eighteen, and Geely, with 63,800, placed in twentieth, Carnewschina reported. BYD-Dolphin-EV-Launch-1-(1)-full-(1).jpg

Despite a strong July, BYD's global sales this year rank eighth, with 1,714,100. This puts them behind Honda, Toyota, and Chevrolet.

Even so, this is quite remarkable. As evidence of BYD's dedication to pushing the envelope, the EV manufacturer emerges as a strong competitor in the field of electric vehicles by fusing performance, technological innovation, and thoughtful design.

According to Carnewschina, the second half of the year typically sees an increase in sales for the Chinese auto industry because a portion of BYD's initial sales slump was attributed to consumers being cautious about making significant purchases due to the hectic Lunar New Year. web_CariCarz_MBA_WA_Launch_BYD-Seal-4-(1).jpg

It appears that tariffs in the EU, US, and Canada won't stop the automaker from growing because BYD is still branching out into new markets and diversifying its manufacturing base and supply chain.

It is also introducing new products, such as the new Seal. The BYD Seal, which was launched in February of this year, has quickly gained popularity in Malaysia's EV market. According to data from January to July 2024, it is Malaysia's best-selling electric vehicle. To build on its success, the Chinese automaker is set to release a new variant of the Seal on September 6, 2024.
