Hyundai Motor Has Just Produced Its 100 Millionth Vehicle

Hyundai has hit a major milestone by producing its 100 millionth vehicle, which turns out to be an Ioniq 5 EV.
Hyundai Motor has reached a significant milestone by producing its 100 millionth vehicle. This stellar achievement was accomplished in just 57 years since its inception, making the Korean automotive giant one of the world’s fastest-growing automakers in recent years.

The 100,000,001th vehicle, which turns out to be an Ioniq 5 EV, was presented to the customer in a special event held at Hyundai's Ulsan plant.
To commemorate this special milestone, Hyundai held a special ceremony at its main plant in Ulsan, South Korea, where the 100,000,001th was delivered directly to the customer. It turns out that the special 100 millionth and first vehicle was an Ioniq 5, which was hand-delivered to the customer at the end of the Ulsan plant’s inspection conveyor belt.
Speaking of the Ulsan plant, this dedicated production facility holds a significant role as the ‘birthplace of the development of the Korean automobile industry.’ Since its inception back in 1968, the Ulsan plant has oversaw the production of the company’s first mass-produced independent model, the 1975 Hyundai Pony, as well as being the central hub for the development of its electrified models.

This historic achievement follows Hyundai Motor’s continuous growth in both domestic and international markets, with contributing factors including the inception of its ‘N’ high-performance arm, the introduction of its Genesis premium sub-brand, as well as the stellar sales performance of its Ioniq EV lineup, which includes two award-winning EV models, the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.
Not to forget, the company’s global footprint has also expanded, with Hyundai currently operating numerous production facilities in countries like the US, Turkey, India, the Czech Republic, and many more. Combined with their domestic production facilities, these plants helped the company to double its production numbers in just over a decade, from 50 million units in 2013 to 100 million units in 2024.

“Each and every employee at Hyundai Motor has contributed to the accumulation of 100 million units through their hard work and dedication,” said Dong Seock Lee, president and head of domestic productions and chief safety officer at Hyundai Motor Company.
“This auspicious occasion is just the first step toward the future era of electrification that Hyundai Motor will lead,” the president added.

Moving forward, Hyundai is planning to transform its production hubs into smart ones, with its newly-established Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) being the blueprint for its future production factories, including the upcoming Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia, USA.
