New G99 BMW M5 Touring Gains Sporty M Performance Parts

The G99-gen BMW M5 Touring gains several sporty carbon fibre bits courtesy of the new M Performance Parts.
Putting aside its aggressive design and supercar-shaming performance numbers, the G99-gen BMW M5 Touring also made headlines for one peculiar reason—its weight. Tipping the scale at 2,508 KG, the M5 Touring is about 63 KG heavier than its saloon twin, which probably explains why BMW has quickly introduced the carbon-laden M Performance Parts for its super-wagon, probably as a bid to add some sense of lightness to it.

While we aren’t so sure about the math behind this ‘diet plan’, the M Performance Parts have definitely transformed this already mean-looking wagon into a much more aggressive one, with the biggest highlight being the new front splitter and rear diffuser. Made fully from carbon fibre, both the new splitter and diffuser feature a split design, with both of their ends juxtaposed to give the wagon a wider stance.

Further accentuating the wide stance of this wagon are the carbon-imbued sill extensions, which paired well with both the optional M Performance Parts side decals and the carbon fibre side mirror caps that are factory-fitted to the car. Unfortunately, no carbon fibre roof options were offered to the M5 Touring, which is quite a shame since such an upgrade would theoretically shed some extra weight from this behemoth of a wagon.
Instead of a full carbon fibre roof, BMW instead offers the M5 Touring with a lightweight roof antenna made from aramid, which we’d reckon bodes well with its carbon fibre fuel tank cap.
While BMW didn’t show any interior photos of the M5 Touring with M Performance Parts, the Bavarian marque did say that the package adds some extra M stuff inside the cabin on top of already M badge-laden innards. Key additions include fancier M-badged floor mats with decorative contrast stitches, an M Performance-branded cover for the key fob wrapped in Alcantara and carbon fibre, plus a special tyre bag with built-in handles.

As of writing, BMW has yet to unveil the prices for each of these M Performance Parts, although we’d reckon M5 Touring owners will find them rather affordable, considering the hefty $121,500 (RM538,488) the base car comes with.
