Zeekr 009 Makes ASEAN Debut in Thailand – Malaysia Next?

The Zeekr 009 luxury EV MPV makes its ASEAN regional debut in Thailand. Is Malaysia next?
Geely-owned EV marque Zeekr continues to expand its venture in the ASEAN market as it launches its flagship luxury EV MPV model in Thailand this week—the Zeekr 009. This all-electric peoplemover is the second-ever Zeekr model to go on sale in the Kingdom, following the debut of the Zeekr X EV crossover earlier this year.

For the Thai market, the 009 arrives in a sole Flagship AWD variant, which is powered by two electric motors to deliver a total system output of 603 HP (450 kW) and 693 NM, allowing a rapid century sprint finish of only 4.5 seconds and a decent V-Max of 230 KM/H. Juicing the dual motors is a sizable 116-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack that supplies the 009 with up to 582 KM of EV range (WLTP).
Charging-wise, the 009 can support up to 310 kW of DC fast charging, which theoretically sees its sizable NMC battery to be charged from 10-80% in just 11.5 minutes. The charging performance mirrors that we’ve seen in the Hong Kong market, and we probably can expect to see similar specifications for 009 models in other right-hand drive (RHD) markets.

Being the top-spec variant for the model, the 009 Flagship AWD gets several stylish bits and equipment, with the exterior highlights being the 20-inch alloy wheels the MPV rides on, standard air suspension setup, and more. Elsewhere, Thai folks can choose from three colourway options for the 009, those being Crystal White, Electric Blue, and Phantom Black.

Also special for the 009 Flagship AWD model is the six-seater layout it comes with, with the second row coming with two executive lounge seats. To go along with this airline-style seating layout, the top-spec model also gets a dedicated 17-inch foldable screen for the rear passengers, while the front screen setup comprises a 15.4-inch central infotainment display and a smaller 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Topping off the cabin amenities list are the split panoramic glass roof, a Yamama surround sound system, and many more.

The all-new Zeekr 009 EV MPV starts at THB 3.099 million (RM395,000 approximately) in the Thai market, which makes it significantly cheaper than its closest competitors, the ever-popular Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, both of which retail at THB 4.129 million (RM526,000 approx.) and THB 4.499 million (RM573,000 approx.), respectively.
Given that the 009 already made its ASEAN debut in Thailand, there’s a high chance that Malaysia could be the next destination for this luxurious EV MPV. With said model recently spotted roaming down our roads, it is safe to say that we’re really getting closer to seeing the Zeekr 009 making its debut into our market.
