UMW Toyota Motor Drives Net-Zero Message At IGEM 2024
Leading automaker UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) is present at this year's edition of the IGEM 2024 sustainable tech expo happening this week where it continues to drive the messaging of its renowned Multi-Pathway Approach to decarbonised mobility.
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) continues to spread the message of its multi-pathway decarbonisation concept this week as the leading automaker participates in the on-going International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2024 expo.
The annual sustainable tech expo sees this year’s edition take place this week from Oct 9 to Oct 11 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). On show here at UMWT’s booth is a miniaturised and compact iteration of the renowned marque’s ‘Beyond Zero’ show concept.
As a refresher, Toyota’s multi-pathway decarbonisation concept as shown at the main Beyond Zero expo mentioned held earlier this year sees the Japanese automaker shedding light into other alternative means for mass mobility decarbonisation, namely through electrification and hydrogen tech.
Key vehicles on display here include the Toyota Mirai Hydrogen FCEV saloon, as well as the popular Toyota Corolla Cross HEV petrol-electric hybrid crossover SUV.
On display here too were several key vehicles demonstrating said messaging. Included here were the Toyota Mirai Hydrogen FCEV saloon, as well as the marque’s popular Corolla Cross HEV hybrid petrol-electric crossover SUV offering.
“Our Multi-Pathway approach demonstrates that there is no single solution to sustainability, but a combination of technologies that offer immediate impact and long-term potential,” said UMWT President Datuk Ravindran K in a statement accompanying a press release issued today.
The exec further empahsised UMWT’s commitment in delivering practical solutions that meet evolving customer needs whilst also aligning with the nation’s carbon reduction goals. “Our participation in IGEM reinforces our dedication to contributing to a greener future, in line with Malaysia’s vision for sustainable development," added the exec further.
Essentially, UMWT's efforts at IGEM 2024 sees it present a miniaturised iteration of its 'Beyond Zero' show concept. The firm held a mass expo themed on which earlier this year too.
Apart from product and hardware, UMWT is also driving the its net-zero conversations and messaging at IGEM 2024 through the presence of keynote speakers such as Pras Ganesh, executive VP of Toyota Motor Asia, during the expo’s Mobility-X segment.
Through which, Ganesh outlined Toyota's commitment and initiatives towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2025 via its multi-pathway approach mentioned. Key to this, according to the automaker, is achieving mass and accessible electrification that serves diverse mobility needs of every customers.

"We believe that by offering the Multi-Pathway technologies, from fuel efficient ICEs including those powered by alternative energy like biofuel, hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, and hydrogen-powered vehicles, we can help accelerate the region’s journey to a sustainable future where no one is left behind,” explained Ganesh further.
