Beginning on January 1, 2025, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will move its ticketing system entirely cashless for the Klang Valley, as well as the northern, southern, and east coast sectors.

This move is intended to promote a more competitive and efficient society and to support the Malaysian government's goal of digitalization, Bernama has reported.
“During this transition period, ticket counters will continue to accept cash transactions. However, once the initiative is implemented, all transactions will be cashless,” KTMB group CEO Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin said in a statement.

In addition to distributing promotional materials at train stations and making announcements on trains, KTMB is promoting the initiative through a number of platforms, including its social media accounts.
Additionally, the company said that KTMB is collaborating with local banks to help people without debit cards at specific stations. 0de0c8_9fe16599e4eb43759b21818a816fd09b~mv2.jpg

In order to ease the concerns of KTM users who are unfamiliar with the cashless option, KTMB frontline staff will be on hand at stations to help users register for the Komuter Link card or the KTMB Mobile (KITS) application, as well as to help them purchase tickets.
The company is encouraging the public to embrace cashless transactions by providing 1,000 Komuter Link cards at no cost and 500 free rail points for the first 1,000 KITS registrations.
For the record, the KTIS mobile app has over three million accounts registered for the purchase of ETS, KTM Komuter, Shuttle Tebrau, and KTM Intercity tickets.
