Riddara RD6 Launched In Thailand

Riddara, the electric pick-up brand under Geely Holding Group, has introduced the Riddara RD6 in Thailand this week. It now stands as the first fully electric pick-up truck to go on sale in said Kingdom.

Priced from THB899,000 (RM116,000) onwards, the RD6 matches its launch price in China and promises to combine the robust performance expected from pick-up trucks with the smooth drive and high-end comfort of an SUV.

Built on the brand’s cutting-edge M.A.P (Multiplex Attached Platform), with over 70% high-strength steel, the RD6 is designed to merge the utility of a pickup with the capabilities of an EV as well.
According to Riddara, the RD6 features a new level of safety and comfort for families and outdoor adventurers alike with exceptionally spacious, SUV-like interior to high-strength steel construction. The truck bed features a 6 kW power outlet and boasts 1,200 litres of space. Additional under-hood storage and extra compartments are also present to provide even more storage options.

Available in both 2WD and 4WD, the RD6 also sees three battery capacities offered - 63 kWh, 73 kWh and 86 kWh. 4WD-equipped variants see 0-100 KM/H sprints despatched in just 4.5 secs thanks to their 422 HP with 595 NM outputs. 2WD variants, on the other hand, also boasts respectable 270 HP and 385 NM output figures.
As for charging, all variants share 6.6kW AC at their base. As for DC charging speed, the base 2WD 63 kWh variant accepts up to 90 kW whilst the higher-specced 4WD 86 kWh guise ups the ante to 100 kW. As for the 2WD and 4WD 73 kWh variants, these can draw up to 110 kWh instead.

Seven driving modes are offered and includes terrain-specific modes (Sand, Mud, Off-road, Wading, Economy, Comfort, and Sport). Complementing said all-terrain abilities is RD6’s water-wading depth of 815 MM and 3-tonne towing capacity.
On board, the cabin is primed with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch infotainment display that boasts both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, smart multi-function steering wheel and advanced voice command features.

Present too is a 50-watt wireless charging pad and a dual-zone climate control system with CN95 PM 2.5 air filtration. For driver and passenger comfort, the RD6’s front seats are ventilated and offer 6-way adjustability. The front passenger seat is also reclinable up to 180-degrees.
As for safety, the RD6 has six airbags and up to 14 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features primed. Other additions here include a 540-degree surround view camera feature with see-through undercarriage function.

For Thailand, the RD6 is offered with an extensive after-sales service program providing nationwide support and a 24/7 call centre access. Early bird buyers gain a 6-year or 150,000 KM vehicle warranty, an 8-year of 200,000 KM drive motor and battery warranty, as well as free parts and labour maintenance up to six times within 6 years or 150,000 KM.
With the RD6 now launched in Thailand, could this also lead to a reworked Proton-badged iteration for Malaysia in the near future? Yes, this is indeed a possibility given the fact that the RD6 shares the same platform base as the Proton X90 D-segment SUV.
