Chery Omoda 5 Refreshed As Tiggo 5x

Chery has refreshed and renamed its popular Omoda 5 compact crossover in China, christening now as the Tiggo 5x High Energy Edition.

This revamp embraces a cleaner design language, reminiscent of Land Rover’s aesthetic philosophy, with striking updates to its front fascia. The refreshed model is available in three variants priced between RMB69,900 and RMB83,900 (RM43,000 and RM52,000).

The model line-up continues to harness the familiar 1.5T 4-cup turbo petrol heart rated at 156 HP and 230 NM, and matched with a 9-speed CVT or a six-speed manual transmission options. In terms of dimensions, just like the Omoda 5, the Tiggo 5x measures 4,400 MM long with a 2,630 MM wheelbase, 1,830 MM wide, and 1,588 MM tall..

The Tiggo 5x features a reworked front fascia boasting a signature new matrix grille that’s seamlessly integrated with the familiar T-shaped LED DRLs and bumper-mounted split headlight. The new bumper also gives the Tiggo 5x a robust and muscular stance which will appeal to a wider audience.

From the side, the Tiggo 5x maintains its strong dynamic body lines complemented by streamlined sporty coupe-like roof contours. The crossover SUV reportedly rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels paired with red brake calipers. At the rear, the Tiggo 5x looks unmistakably like the Omoda 5’s  as it features the same design complimented with a through-type taillight design paired with a sporty rear spoiler.

Inside, the Tiggo 5x adopts a cool black theme with metal-textured accents for a modern and premium feel. A standout feature is the 20.5-inch nebula surround screen integrated with the Lion 5.0 AI cockpit, offering seamless Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity.

The cabin also retains the familiar Omoda 5 physical buttons and interior design which includes the multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel and a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.

The Tiggo 5x places a strong emphasis on safety and convenience, offering a suite of advanced features designed to elevate the driving experience. Highlights include an upgraded 540° panoramic camera for comprehensive visibility, an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold for added ease in stop-and-go traffic, cruise control for stress-free highway journeys, and a fatigue monitoring system to keep drivers alert and safe during long trips.

With its refreshed design, enhanced features, and accessible pricing, the Chery Tiggo 5x High Energy Edition solidifies its appeal as a stylish and practical choice in the competitive small SUV segment.
