Chery Tiggo 4 Pro Debuts In Indonesia As Tiggo 5X

Launched in neighoburing Indonesia earlier today is the Chery Tiggo 5X - also known as the TIggo 4 Pro.
Earlier today, Chinese automaker Chery Auto saw its Indonesia arm, PT Chery Sales Indonesia, officially debut its latest offering. Called the Chery Tiggo 5X, this is effectively Chery Tiggo 4 Pro model that we got acquainted with some time back, but NOT newer face-lifted Tiggo 4 Pro model that we got sized up in China earlier this year.
For the Indonesian market, the Tiggo 5 X comes in two variants, those being a base ‘Classic’ and an up-specced ‘Champion’. Both share the same mechanical underpinnings, but they are separated by the level of kit and featured brimmed.

The model’s launch is making headlines in the Republic just across the Malacca Strait thanks to its highly affordable price tag. Officially, the base Tiggo 5X Classic commands IDR 249 million (RM71,540) whilst the Tiggo 5X Champion guise is tagged at IDR279 million (RM80,160).
At launch though, PT Chery Sales Indonesia are offering the first 1,000 customers an IDR10 million discount, thus dropping the figures to IDR239 million (RM68,667) and IDR269 million (RM77,287). For context, the rivalling Toyota Raize and Honda WR-V commands IDR235 million and IDR275 million (RM67,518 and RM79,011) respectively.
Apart from the discount, Chery’s Indonesian arm are also offering the Tiggo 5X with a 6-year vehicle warranty plus a 4-year free service package plus an optional 1,000,000 KM engine warranty. There’s also a guaranteed resale or buy-back price of up 70%, though the condition for which remains unclear.

Both variants harness the same 1.5-litre 4-cyl naturally aspirated petrol heart rated at 112 PS and 138 NM that drives the front wheels through a CVT automatic box.
In terms of specs, the base Classic variant takes on a ‘no-frills’ approach. This is evident in its adoption of 16-inch wheels, halogen headlights, black interior scheme, and a 4-speaker audio setup. The up-specced Champion variant gains LED lights and larger 17-inch wheels, along with a two-tone (black/red) cabin motif, sunroof, cabin ambient lighting, as well as a 6-speaker audio setup.

On board, the up-specced Tiggo 5X Champion boasts a dual-tone cabin motif, cabin ambient lighting, and a 6-speaker audio setup. Shared across both variants are the 10.25-inch displays.
What is shared though are the digital instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen, both measuring 10.25-inch, with the latter offering Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity plus novel voice command function.
Shared too is basic safety as both offer six airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, stability and traction control suites (ESP and TCS), both Hill-start Assist (HAC) and Hill Descent Control (HDC), ISOFIX childseat anchors, as well as a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Only the up-specced Champion variant has a slew of Active Driver Assistance (ADAS) features that includes ACC, FCW, AEB, LDW, BSD, and RCTA. On top of which, this variant also boasts a 360-degree HD parking camera feature.

Shared across both are basic safety features such as 6 airbags. However, only the Champion variant benefits with ADAS features.
Evidently, both variants of the Tiggo 5X offer tremendous value for money given the rather comprehensive packages each pack for the Indonesian market. Perhaps a similar effect could be created once it makes landfall in Malaysia, which is slated to happen soon.
Earlier this year, Chery Auto Malaysia had hinted plans to launch a “smaller sized and highly affordable” offering sometime in the final quarter (Q4) of this year. The firm even previewed the Tiggo 4 Pro to local press as part of its Auto China 2024 programme.
Since then, no announcements about this were made yet, though we expect so once the firm officially launches the Tiggo 7 Pro.
