Chery Debuts Jetour Zongheng Luxury Sub-Brand, Previews Three Models

As reported prior, Chery-owned sub-brand Jetour were poised to expand its forte with a series of new hybrid-powered luxury off-road SUVs. The sub-brand did just that sometime last week, introducing its new Jetour Zongheng banner for which, previewing three new models parked under it too.
Of the trio though, just one appears production-ready, and it’s christened as the Zongheng G700. If it looks familiar to you, perhaps the fact that it initially started out life as the Jetour T5 Concept ought to explain it – this is a newly renamed and rebranded iteration of said concept.

The other two models previewed appeared to be in design concept prototype stage still, but their production and market entry plans were detailed nonetheless - they are set to come shortly after the Zongheng G700 model's market entry. They are the Zongheng F700 pick-up truck and the sub-brand’s ‘flagship’ Zongheng G900 coupe SUV.
Starting with the Zongheng G700, this is clearly an attempt by the Chery-owned sub-brand to go directly up against rivals BYD and its Fang Cheng Bao 5. This is evident through its rugged, adventurous and blocky exterior design.

Underneath, the Zongheng G700 underpins a ladder frame chassis housing Chery’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid CDM-O powertrain, boasting a sizeable footprint too – it sits 5.1 metres long and has a ground clearance ranging between 150 MM and 350 MM thanks to adjustable air suspension.
The powertrain package mentioned consists of a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill working with a pair of plug-in hybrid (PHEV) e-motors boasting claimed combined outputs of 761 PS and 795 NM. Both are then managed by a 2-speed DHT box that’s paired with he electrified mill.

Notably, the CDM-O’s system’s 800-volt high-voltage platform status sees its battery pack supporting 6C charging abilities enabling 20-80% fast-charging times as quick as 6 minutes. Jetour adds a similar super-PHEV setup will also power the Zhongheng F700 pick-up truck mentioned.
Whilst on powertrain still, the supposed Zongheng G900 flagship will instead adopt a different EREV (range extender) powertrain system called CEM-O. This package pairs a 2.0-litre generator, battery pack and four e-motors boasting a peak output of 1,572 HP.

Supposedly positioned as the 'flagship' offering, the Zongheng G900 is set apart by its radical and distinct coupe SUV styling.
On board, the Zongheng G700 sees its cabin primed with a three-row, 2-2-2 seating layout, massive central touchscreen infotainment display, not forgetting an array of off-road driving modes accessible through toggle buttons placed in the console.
According to Chery, it reportedly plans to launch the Zongheng G700 detailed in China sometime in the third quarter (Q3) of this year, and it could also be exported overseas very soon. As such, this model is also possibly set to enter the Malaysian market, as hinted by Jetour Malaysia execs prior.
Regarding that latter plan, Jetour Malaysia recently laid out revised plans and targets where it will launch at least one new model – the Dashing C-SUV – plus a network of 10 3S and 4S outlets nationwide by the first quarter (Q1) of this year. Read our report on which by clicking here.
