Prolintas Discontinues Kajang Silk Contra-Flow
Concessionaires Prolintas took to Facebook earlier today to announce the cessation of the contra-flow (tidal-flow) lanes on the Kajang Silk highway starting tomorrow (Wed, Jan 8).
Earlier today, highway concessionaires Prolintas announced via its official Facebook page that it will discontinue operating the contra-flow (tidal-flow) lanes on the Kajang Silk highway starting this month from Wed, Jan 8 (tomorrow).
Specifically, the concessionaire is ceasing the contra-flow lanes for both directions that spans from the Sungai Ramal Toll Plaza to the Uniten interchange. As such, motorists are advised to stick to the stretch's original lanes, including the Smartlanes on the highway.
Speaking of the latter, Prolintas added that Smartlanes have been activated on the Putrajaya-bound SKVE highway. It spans from KM 28.0 of the Kajang Silk to KM 1.1 of the SKVE, and it's accessible daily from 6:30AM to 6:30PM.

The cessation of this contra-flow was somewhat expected given its reduced effectiveness in alleviating traffic congestion in the area of late – nearby resides (this writer included) who commute on this stretch daily would know what we’re talking about.
How this change will affect peak-hour traffic flow here remains to be seen, but it’s best for residents in the area and commuters who frequently use this route to take note of this change.
