Proton Saga MC3 Rendered by Theottle – Yay or Nay?

This is how the upcoming Proton Saga MC3 might look like, according to a rendered image by Theottle.
News of a new Proton Saga has surfaced online ever since a camo-wrapped prototype was spotted recently, which raises lots of speculations and rumours by the local automotive enthusiast. Fortunately, render artist Chin Swee Hoe (also known as @Theottle) is here to give us a glimpse of what we can expect from the latest version of P1’s best-seller.

With numerous rumours suggesting that this ‘new’ model might be a third facelift (MC3) version of the current-gen Saga, it comes as no surprise that Theottle has also used the third-gen model as the basis for its render work. For starters, the rendered Saga MC3 gets the same grille design as newer Proton models like the X70 facelift and the S70, featuring Proton’s new signature Songket weave motif.
Also partially carried over from the S70 are the LED headlights, featuring the same DRL signatures, though they appeared to be more rectangular. Not to forget, the front bumper also looks similar to the ones found on the S70.

What remains unchanged from the current Saga MC2 model is the rendered Saga’s side profile and roof design, with the former even including the two-tone wheels that are used on the range-topping Premium S variant of the car. Keen eyes will notice that Theottle has also included the ADAS camera module on the front windscreen, given that the recently-spied prototype was spotted with one.

What Theottle’s render didn’t reveal on the rumoured Saga MC3 are the mechanical upgrades, but given this is just a mere facelift, we can’t expect any big or significant changes to take place. Should this be the case, then the new Saga MC3 might retain its predecessor’s tried-and-tested 1.3-litre 4-cyl CamPro VVT engine that produces 94 HP and 120 NM.

While the purported Saga MC3 is not an entirely new model, Proton CEO Dr. Li Chunrong previously hinted that a new, fully in-house-designed Saga remains in the pipeline, where it is said to use an entirely new AMA platform. Moreover, the collaboration with Geely also ensures that the current generation continues to evolve, thanks to several new and enhanced features like the rumoured ADAS capabilities that promise to bring more value to customers.
