Puspakom Sdn Bhd (Puspakom) CEO, Mahmood Razak Bahman, emphasized that the company strictly follows the vehicle inspection procedures set by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
He reassured that Puspakom has no authority to modify any JPJ-established inspection process, and any deviation could result in fines from JPJ. This statement comes amidst concerns about the transparency of Puspakom's vetting process. Untitled-design---2023-06-22T082741.488-full_normal.jpg

“Although there are views that faded load stickers are not related to road safety, Puspakom must still comply with the instructions from the authorities,“ he stated in a statement on Monday.

This was in response to remarks made by Augustine Paat, secretary of the Sibu Lorry Association, who called for better transparency after members of the organisation complained about unreasonable failures, such as faded load tags.

However, Mahmood denied those claims, stating that all car owners ought to be aware of the rules they have to follow.

“Bringing non-compliant vehicles for inspection shows a lack of responsibility towards the regulations. This is an attitude problem we need to address,” he said.

Puspakom has made headlines in the previous month after the transport ministry and JPJ terminated its monopoly by appointing three new companies to conduct mandated vehicle inspections (PPKM) alongside Puspakom.

This appointment is consistent with the decision of the Cabinet meeting of March 17, 2023, which allowed the expansion of mandatory motor vehicle inspection services under the Road Transport Act 198 to additional qualified companies, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
