JPJ Recall: Civic Type R & e-tron Amongst 41,688 Affected

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued an official recall involving 41,688 vehicles across six brands. The recall aims to address potential risks of accidents caused by structural defects, equipment malfunctions, or system issues.
The affected brands include Honda, Kia, MAN TGS, Ford, Audi, and Mercedes. Among them, Honda’s Civic and CR-V models make up the largest portion of the recall, with a total of 36,678 vehicles.

Of these, 26,802 units are all variants of the Honda Civic produced from 2022 to 2024. Another 159 units are the Civic Type R from 2023 to 2024. Additionally, 9,717 units of the CR-V covering all variants are recalled. The issue involves steering noise and reduced smoothness when turning.
Kia’s Sorento XM model accounts for 4,245 recalled vehicles. This includes 1,384 units produced between 2011 and 2015 due to rod bearing issues. An additional 2,861 units from 2010 to 2014 are being recalled for an electrical short circuit risk that could lead to a burnt Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit.

Ford’s Everest model is also affected, with 288 units recalled. This includes eight units of the Everest 2.0 Titanium manufactured from 2022 to 2024, which have a battery drain issue in the e-Shifter system. The remaining 280 units from various 2022 to 2024 specifications have front window anti-pinch failures.

Audi is recalling 168 vehicles involving EV offering the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT models. For the 2022 to 2024 production period, 48 e-tron GT and 49 RS e-tron GT units have brake hose fracture concerns. Meanwhile, 32 e-tron GT and 39 RS e-tron GT vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2023 have stability issues with the high-voltage EV battery module.

Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG are recalling 18 vehicles. Nine units of the S580 e from 2020 to 2023 have engine control lambda sensor issues. Another nine units from various AMG variants produced between 2017 and 2022 are affected by problems with the transmission control electrical connector.
The recall is a critical measure to ensure public safety by addressing potential mechanical or structural defects. Vehicle owners of the affected models are strongly encouraged to contact their respective manufacturers or authorized service centers to arrange inspections as soon as possible.

Owners will be contacted directly to schedule inspection appointments. If any defects are identified, the necessary components will be replaced free of charge, with all costs covered by the manufacturers.
For more information about the recall process, owners can visit or contact their nearest authorized sales or service centers. JPJ will oversee the recall process to ensure all affected vehicles are inspected and deemed safe for use.
