Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge Bows As Marque’s Most Powerful Car Ever

Renowned British luxury marque Rolls-Royce expanded its Black Badge range after inducting its groundbreaking Spectre electric vehicle (EV) model into said line-up. The all-electric luxury coupe now gets the Black Badge series’ renowned darkened aesthetic treatment plus a power bump.

Designed to be “effortlessly intense, immediate, and precise,” the Spectre Black Badge appears to benefit with an upgraded dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup that produces a claimed 650 HP and 1,075 NM of torque. For reference, the standard Spectre boasts ‘only’ 584 HP and 900 NM.

Boasting 650 HP and 1,075 NM, the Spectre Black Badge now stands as RR's most powerful creation ever, and it does so without a V12 lump.

Altogether, this puts the Spectre Black Badge as the most powerful Rolls-Royce creation ever, and said fact comes even though this luxury coupe does not pack the marque’s signature twin-turbo V12 lump primed in its Ghost, Phantom, and Cullinan models.

However, it seems drivers won’t be able to tap full power and torque simultaneously. RR didn’t get into specifics about this, instead choosing to highlight a new ‘Infinity Mode’ added that can be unlocked via a steering wheel button granting access to all 650 HP and a “more direct throttle response.”

In 'Spirited Mode', the Spectre Black Badge can despatch the century sprint in just 4.2 secs.

Maximum torque is accessible via ‘Spirited Mode’ instead, which is essentially the Spectre Black Badge’s launch control. When activated, it delivers the combined 1,075 NM max torque momentarily to enable 0-100 KM/H dashes in just 4.2 secs – 0.3 secs quicker than standard.

The Goodwood-rooted purveyors of ultra luxury motoring didn’t specify details surrounding the Spectre Black Badge’s battery pack. It’s presumed to have retained the standard model’s 102 kWh lithium-ion pack, as well as both its 22 kW AC and 195 kW DC charging speeds too.

The standard Spectre's 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack (presumably) remains unchanged in the Black Badge, and promises identical WLTP-rated range figures between 493 KM and 530 KM.

As for range, RR touts that a full charge delivers anywhere between 493 KM to 530 KM based on the WLTP standards – identical figures as the standard Spectre. However, typical of any performance-oriented EV models and variants, expect lower real world range figures.

Besides the beefed up power, the Spectre Black Badge also gains recalibrated steering with increased steering weight, as well as upgraded dampers to reduce body roll. This results in “enhanced sense of engagement” without compromising a “Magic Carpet” ride, claims RR.

Besides a power bump, Black Badge treatment also brings chassis enhancements to make this Spectre a lot more engaging to drive.

Typical of the Black Badge treatment, exterior styling tweaks are relatively minor, but all favour a much darker look and feel. Highlights include 23-ijnch forged aluminium wheels dressed in either two-tone or all-black finishing, as well as dark-finished trims in place of traditional chrome.

New touches here include an illuminated backplate, plus the striking new Vapour Violet paint pictured, which get matched with a contrasting Iced Black hood and signature coachline running down the car’s entire lower third.

Black Badge treatment also brings a slew of special design touches inside and out that leans towards a darker persona.

On board, the cabin dees new illuminated Black Badge treadplates and a selection of new instrument dial illumination hues. Present in the pictured unit too are illuminated fascia plus infinity logos.

Another notable touch in the cabin too is its Technical Fiber trims. These are made from black a Bolivar wood base that is topped by an intricate diamond-shaped weave consisting of carbon and a fine metal thread.

The company has not disclosed pricing, but with the standard car costing some RM2 million sans options, duties, taxes, and on-road costs, transaction prices for the Black Badge Spectre will likely creep well beyond RM8 million (at least) once equipped to customers’ specifications.
