ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 Flagged Off In Malaysia

The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), with support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and Tourism Malaysia, recently officiated the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 (AUD 2025) Flag-Off Ceremony.
This 9,000 KM journey across nine ASEAN countries is set to promote sustainable mobility. The convoy was flagged-off at Menara MITI by MITI Minister, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Zafrul Aziz.
The two-month journey which is meant to highlight Malaysia’s leadership in green mobility, cross-border collaboration and automotive innovation is set to conclude at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) which will be held from May 9 to 15, 2025.


According to Tengku Zafrul, “AUD 2025 showcases ASEAN’s strength in sustainable mobility, economic integration, and environmental stewardship.”
He also added, “Malaysia, through initiatives like the ASEAN Automotive Institute Alliance, is shaping a unified mobility ecosystem that accelerates innovation and harmonizes standards.”
As ASEAN Chair in 2025, Malaysia leads the region’s transition to green mobility. The Proton e.MAS 7, the official AUD 2025 vehicle, symbolizes the nation’s commitment to electric mobility and ASEAN’s sustainability goals.

The convoy, which features six Proton e.MAS 7 and four Proton X-Series models will be split-up to follows two routes:
- North Route: Hanoi, Vietnam → Laos → Cambodia → Thailand → Malaysia.
- South Route: Manila, Philippines → Sabah → Brunei → Sarawak → Indonesia → Singapore → Malaysia.
Both convoys will meet at MAS 2025, reinforcing ASEAN’s commitment to connectivity, eco-friendly transport, and economic collaboration.

According to MARii CEO, Azrul Reza Aziz, “AUD 2025 reflects MARii’s commitment to regional cooperation in smart and sustainable mobility. This initiative aligns cross-border EV infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and investment in green mobility, positioning ASEAN as a global EV leader.”
The MAS 2025, which is organized by MARii, is the country’s premier automotive event to showcase new models, EV and ICE technologies, test-drive experiences, and networking opportunities.
The seven day event features over eight exhibition halls perfectly fosters business, investment, and policy discussions. This year’s event is made extra special homage to Women in Automotive - celebrating female pioneers and promoting leadership in mobility innovation.
In addition to that, MAS 2025 will also host Automotive Career & Education Day includes a career fair and the ASEAN Automotive Debate, where top university teams discuss the industry’s future.
