2026 Leapmotor C10 Debuts in China with 800-volt Architecture
Presales for the updated Leapmotor C10 crossover have begun in China, now offered as a 2026 model year (2026MY) offering. This latest offering from the Stellantis-backed brand features key upgrades to its powertrain and tech, all while retaining the same exterior and interior design.
The C10, one of Leapmotor’s global models, was first launched in China in March 2024 and has since reached 97,103 cumulative units delivered. In terms of size, the 2026 model maintains its existing dimensions, measuring 4,739 MM long with a 2,825 MM wheelbase, 1,900 MM wide, and 1,680 MM tall.
The most significant update lies in its new 800-volt (800V) electrical architecture, finally enabling faster charging and improved energy efficiency. However, Leapmotor has yet to disclose the new DC charging speed - an important point for many, as the previous model’s 84 kW limit was seen as a drawback.
Nevertheless, more good news comes in the form of increased battery capacity of 74.9 kWh from 69.9 kWh previously, retaining an LFP chemistry here too. The updated range is now rated at 605 KM based on the CLTC test cycle - expect lower, more ‘realistic’ figures under NEDC or WLTP testing cycles.
The e-motor for the Chinese-market EV now produces 295 HP, up from 228 HP prior. This upgrade also sees a quicker 0–100 KM/H sprint time of 5.9 secs - it was 7.3 secs previously. As a refresher, the Malaysian-spec Leapmotor C10, which was launched by Stellanits Malaysia late last year, still employs a 400-volt (400V) electrical system and boasts an e-motor outputting 218 HP.
Inside, the 2026 C10 now features the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor, as well as a new LiDAR sensor to support advanced driver assistance functions. Other updates include powered door handles. Notably, the EREV (range-extender) variant, however, does not receive any performance or hardware changes.
In China, pricing for the now upgraded 800V 2026 Leapmotor C10 starts from RMB139,800 (approx. RM83,000). Early buyers will receive a RMB4,000 (RM2,400) discount, a complimentary home charging unit, two years of free in-car internet, and other incentives.
Leapmotor Malaysia has yet to announce whether the C10 it offers locally will be updated to this new 800V version. The addition of this improved architecture could play a key role in boosting the model’s sales, especially given the current market response.
As of Q1 2025, only 61 units of the C10 have been sold in Malaysia based on registration numbers recorded via Data.gov. In contrast, rivals BYD delivered 841 units of its comparable Sealion 7 in the same period.
