Audi Q7 CKD Production Officially Starts In Pekan, Pahang
Local assembly (CKD) operations for the second-gen Audi Q7 model officially began at the DRB-Hicom plant in Pekan, Pahang, earlier today.
Local assembly (CKD) operations for the second-gen Audi Q7 model has officially begun at DRB-Hicom’s Pekan, Pahang plant. This was revealed by brand importers and distributors PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) via press release issued earlier today.
“This manufacturing plant and its transformation with a modernised and updated product portfolio is really a centre of excellence. Customers will continue to experience the same Audi quality, performance and luxury – now made in Malaysia,” remarked Volkswagen Group Malaysia MD Dr Susanne Lehmann, during a special line-off ceremony held earlier today.
A special line-off ceremony was held earlier today at the plant, and it was overseen by both Volkswagen Group Malaysia MD Dr Susanne Lehman (top, left) and PHSAM MD Denyu Bostandzhiev (top, right).
“With growing demand for D-segment SUVs, we believe that this is the right time to add the Q7 to our range of Audi models to serve customers here and in the region. The signature Q7 will lead the way for more line-ups in the premium luxury segment,” added Denyu Bostandzhiev, MD of PHSAM, who was also present for the same ceremony held today in Pekan.
Bostandzhiev also emphasised that this groundbreaking CKD operation, which is the first outside Europe for the Q7 nameplate specifically, promises to grant customers with “more competitive pricing and shorter delivery times.” For the uninitiated, the bulk of the Audi brand products carried by PHSAM presently are all fully imported (CBU) units.
All signs indicate that the Pekan-built Audi Q7 CKD will officially - and publicly - launch next month during the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 held at MAEPS, Serdang from May 9 to May 15.
