Over 60,000 Summonses Issued During Hari Raya Special Op
During the 2025 Hari Raya Aidilfitri Special Operation, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued 61,317 notices nationwide for various infractions. These summonses were issued pursuant to the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), following inspections of 287,802 vehicles at 353 designated hotspot locations.
511 cars were seized during the operation that took place between March 24 and midnight last night. Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, the Director-General of the Road Transport Department (JPJ), added that 6,687 complaints were submitted to the JPJ through the MyJPJ application, which also featured user-provided video and photo proof of traffic infractions.
“During the operation period, JPJ also received 6,687 complaints via the MyJPJ application regarding traffic offences during the festive season, with members of the public taking photos or recording videos of road violations and submitting them through the app,” he said.
The top three offenses were: queue-cutting (1,766), driving in emergency lanes (1,625), and running red lights (843). JPJ also sent Notice 114 to car owners based on verified complaints.
“We have taken action based on all the complaints, including issuing Notice 114 to vehicle owners who committed the offences,” he said at a press conference after inspecting the final roadblock under the 2025 HRA Special Operation conducted by Selangor JPJ at the Kota Kemuning Toll Plaza, Section 31, last night.
The operation focused on public transportation, inspecting 12,732 buses across 54 depots and 28 major terminals globally. 1,294 notices were issued, with 366 stemming from undercover operations on moving buses.
The majority of bus-related offenses involved tyre issues, which were addressed immediately, including fines. Undercover officers also found drivers using cell phones while driving, resulting in severe penalties. Drivers were also observed misusing the right lane or entering emergency lanes, with some admitting wrongdoing after being shown evidence.
During the four-day road prohibition on goods vehicles — March 29 and 30 (before to Hari Raya) and April 5 and 6 (after), JPJ issued 163 notices and detained 124 cars under Section 59 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
