MAS 2025: Jetour T2 Previewed – Rugged Off-Road SUV, Launching Soon?

Besides the new VT9, Jetour Malaysia has also showcased the upcoming Jetour T2 SUV at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025.
Besides the new VT9 three-row SUV, Jetour Malaysia has also showcased one of its rugged off-road SUVs at the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025), the Jetour T2. Shown in a left-hand drive (LHD) form, this rugged SUV is one of the upcoming models touted for a local debut sometime later this year.
Also known as the Jetour Shanhai T2 in native China, the T2 underpins the same Kunlun unibody architecture as the Dashing SUV, meaning that it won’t be as ‘blue-blooded’ as other ladder frame-based 4x4 SUVs like the GWM Tank 300, Ford Bronco, and many more.

Visually, the T2 looks very different from both the VT9 and Dashing, featuring a boxy SUV bodystyle with some rugged off-road design features such as the front bumper, flared-out wheel arches with plastic underbody claddings, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel cover, plastic side steps, 20-inch wheels, and many more.

In terms of dimension, the T2 spans 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide, 1,870 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. This puts the T2 in the same category as other midsize 4x4 SUVs like the aforementioned GWM Tank 300, the Toyota Fortuner, and many more.

As with any other rugged Chinese SUVs, the Jetour T2 gets a pretty lavish cabin setup, featuring tons of creature comforts and premium amenities. Some key highlights include powered leather front seats, a massive central infotainment screen with a smaller digital metre cluster, a tall central console with a gear shifter and driving mode dial selector, two wireless charging pads, and many more.

In its native Chinese market, the Jetour T2 is available in both full combustion (ICE) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions. The particular T2 unit displayed here uses the same 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine as the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. Mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox and a real-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system, the T2 boasts a total system output of 251 HP (187 kW) and 390 NM.

According to Jetour, the T2 SUV is one of their best-selling models in China, with an average of 15,000 units sold every month. Prior to this, Jetour Malaysia did announce some serious localisation efforts for our market, with plans to invest up to RM560 million for manufacturing and a further RM216 million in research and development.
Should Jetour Malaysia be serious about launching the T2 into our market, there’s a chance that this rugged SUV might be locally-assembled (CKD) alongside both the Dashing and VT9, thus promising its price to be lower than the fully-imported (CBU) Tank 300, which currently retails for RM250,000. So, any takers?
