Jaecoo Malaysia Teases Omoda C7 Ahead of MAS 2025 Debut
-full_normal.jpg)
Jaecoo Malaysia has sparked local interest by posting a new model silhouette teaser on its social media platforms, hinting at the arrival of what appears to be the Omoda C7. Unveiled at the recent Auto Shanghai 2025, the model is set to make its local debut at the upcoming Malaysian Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025).
Positioned between the C5 (also known as Chery Omoda 5 in our market) and the Omoda C9, the Omoda C7 offers bold styling and premium features. Its overall design language remains consistent with the prototype previewed during last year’s Chery International User Summit, but notable refinements have been made to the front and rear for a sharper, more modern appearance.

Up front, the C7 features a distinctive X-shaped, frameless grille flanked by slim, flowing headlights. While no official measurements have been disclosed, the Omoda C7 is expected to be similar in size to the Jaecoo J7 - measuring around 4,600 MM in length and has a 2,700 MM wheelbase.
Inside, the cabin promises a luxurious experience with premium materials, a 15.6-inch swiveling infotainment display, and a 14-speaker audio system. A standout feature is the ultra-quiet VIP cabin, designed to deliver a serene environment comparable to noise-canceling headphones. Front passenger massage seats further elevate comfort.

Powering the hybrid variant is the brand’s Super Hybrid System (SHS), which is similar to what powers the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. It combines a 1.5-litre TGDi Dedicated Hybrid Engine, a front-mounted e-motor, an 18.3 kWh battery pack, and a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission.
Altogether, the system boasts combined outputs of 347 PS and 525 NM, and yields a claimed maximum driving range of over 1,300 KM. It will also boast 40 kW DC fast-charging abilities plus a built-in 3.3 kW V2L function.

The Omoda C7 also boasts an impressive equipment list. Highlights include 20-inch wheels (available in machine or piano black finishes), a panoramic sunroof, Nubuck leather seats, wireless charging, and a head-up display.
In Malaysia, the C7 is expected to be marketed under Chery Malaysia’s Jaecoo arm, following the same approach used for the recently launched Omoda C9. This strategy aligns with Chery’s global plan to consolidate both Omoda and Jaecoo models under the Jaecoo brand in select markets. The only exception remains the earlier-launched Omoda 5, which predates Jaecoo Malaysia’s formation and continues under the Chery badge.

Meanwhile, another point of interest is the debut of Chery’s new sub-brand, iCaur, which is set to unveil its first model — the iCaur V23 — at MAS 2025. It remains unclear whether iCaur will operate under the Chery umbrella, within Jaecoo, or as a standalone brand. This will be a key detail to watch as Chery Group expands its brand portfolio in Malaysia.
In short, the upcoming MAS 2025, which takes place at MAEPS, Serdang next month from MAy 9 to May 15, is also shaping up to be a pivotal event in Chery Group’s growth strategy in the country.
