Stellantis Names Antonio Filosa As New CEO
Embattled global and multinational automaker Stellantis has finally revealed its new CEO, ending months of intense speculation following previous CEO Carlos Tavares' shock exit.

Ending months of intense speculation, global automaking giant Stellantis officially named its new CEO earlier today. Succeeding Carlos Taveres in said position now is 51-year-old Italian national Antonio Filosa.
“The board selected Antonio Filosa to be CEO based on his proven track record of hands-on success during his more than 25 years in the automotive industry", remarked Stellantis via an official statement.
Born in Italy’s southern city of Naples, Filosa spent his youth in the region of Puglia in the south, and graduated in engineering from Milan's Polytechnic. He’s married to a Brazilian architect to raise two sons together, and he has a passion for water polo.

Leading Stellantis as CEO now is 51-year-old Italian national Antonio Filosa. He was previously brand head of Jeep, and he also led Stellantis North America.
Filosa first joined Fiat Group in 1999 and covered several roles, predominantly in Latin America, serving as Fiat Chrysler chief in the region in 2018. After which, Filosa was given the role of Stellantis COO for South America.
However, Filosa’s most notable tenures came more recently when he was appointed global head of the Jeep brand in 2023, He resigned from said role earlier this year as part of a group-wide reshuffle where he also serves as global chief for quality.
Filosa also led and oversaw Stellantis’ North American operations since Oct 2024. Experts and observers reckon this to be a key asset for the exec as he takes on the daunting task of navigating the group and its brands through President Trump’s tariffs.

Filosa is widely touted by expert observers in having the global profile that the board seeks to address issued faced by the multinational automaking giant.
Moreover, despite his Fiat background and Italian nationality, Filosa has hardly ever worked in Italy. In turn, this could see him offer the global profile that the Stellantis board had been looking for to address issues faced by the multinational carmaker.
Critically, Filosa will need to rein in Stellantis’ massive 14-brand portfolio and complete a process to restore the group's reportedly fraught relations with its dealers, unions and governments – especially across North America and Europe.
