Updated 2026 Land Rover Defender in standard 110 (top), short 90 (left) and extended 130 (right) wheelbase body forms.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has revealed an updated 2026 model year (2026MY) version of its signature and staple Land Rover Defender luxury 4x4 SUV offering. This update sees styling tweaks and a new touchscreen now primed across the range.

Starting with the visual refresh and simply put, it’s quite subtle. Closer inspection will reveal a revised headlight design with a smaller centre section that JLR says provides a ‘distinctive’ graphic when activated. These are then matched with new smoked taillights.

Other notable visual changes include the new gloss black grille bar, which is standard fitment across the range now. Additionally, both the front and rear bumpers get dressed in either silver or satin grey paint. New here too is a 22-inch 7-spoke wheel option.

Exterior visual changes are light, encompassing a revised headlight design (top left), new smoked taillamps (top right), new gloss black grille bar (left), as well as a newly added 22-inch 7-spoke wheel option (right).

Moving inside, the cabin gains a larger new 13.1-inch touchscreen replacing the previous 11.4-inch unit. It now completely fills the gap between the centre console and the dashboard’s upper surface, looking arguably neater than before as a result too.

Also new here too is a driver-facing infrared camera on the steering column for the Driver Attention Alert (DAA) feature – a key advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) feature mandated under the European Union’s recently revised GSR2 legislation.

Offered for the first time through this update is an adaptive off-road cruise control system, but this comes as a cost-option. On top of which, there’s an enhanced ‘All Terrain Progress Control’ suite that now allows you to set comfort levels over terrain.

JLR has not announced which powertrains it will offer in the updated Defender, but the current line-up is reportedly not expected to change.

As a refresher, the choices here include a 3.0-litre twin-turbo 6-cyl diesel with 246 HP or 345 HP; a 2.0-litre petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with 296 HP and up to 48 KM of electric range; as well as a supercharged 5.0-litre petrol V8 boasting 419 HP, 493 HP or 518 HP.

Of course, at the very top of the range sits the Defender Octa guise, and this one packs a special BMW-supplied 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo mill that outputs a whopping 626 HP.

“With production at full capacity to meet demand, the latest changes are part of our continuous commitment to make adventures even more satisfying,” remarked Mark Cameron, managing director of JLR’s Defender sub-brand.

In other words, we can expect deliveries of the 2026 Land Rover Defender detailed here to begin fairly soon.
