New to the burgeoning local e-bike market space is the Yadea GT20 from two-wheel distributing giants MForce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd (MForce).

Local motorcycle distribution giant MForce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd (MForce) expanded its Yadea e-bike brand line-up this week with a new addition. Pictured here is the new Yadea GT20 model that the Bukit Mertajam-based distributors and assemblers now offers.

Before we detail this e-bike further, take note that like the rivalling Blueshark R1 series, or even the BMW CE 02, you’ll need a B2 class motorcycle licence plus registration (plate numbers), road tax and insurance to ride the Yadea GT20 on the road.

On the surface, the Yadea GT20 appears like any other compact step-through and wist-and-go scooter.

On the surface, it’s easy to see the Yadea GT20 is presented like any other typical compact step-through scooter, the latter made more evident by its twist-and-go nature – there’s no clutch lever or gear-shifter to manage here.

In terms of size and footprint, the Yadea GT20 sits 1,857 MM long, 690 MM wide and 1,120 MM tall. What’s rather welcoming here are the low 768 MM seat height and its 700 MM length, 350 MM footboard space, plus 140-150 MM ground clearance.

There's plenty of kit brimmed despite the affordable price. It includes all-LED lighting, digital instrument display, front storage bin, 28-litre under-seat store, and USB-A charging port.

Key features and amenities brimmed include all-LED lighting (DRL, headlight, and taillight), digital instrument display, storage bin up front with a sizeable 28-litre under-seat store, as well as a USB-A charging port.

Adding further to comfort levels here is a ‘Secure Ride’ package that adds an ergonomic seat saddle, grab handles, as well as a pillion backrest.

Mechanically, the Yadea GT20 appears to adopt an in-wheel hub-mounted e-motor for propulsion – typical of e-bikes as such. Said motor provides up to 3.2 kW (4.2 HP) of peak power and up to 160 NM of peak torque.

Juicing said e-motor is a 72V38Ah Graphene battery pack encased underneath, and it claims to yield up to 105 KM of range with each full charge.

Typical of e-bikes as such, the Yadea GT20 adopts an in-wheel hub-mounted e-motor, and it's juiced by a 72V38Ah Graphene battery pack encased underneath promising up to 105 KM range.

Speaking of, said pack can be recharged by plugging in to the domestic socket, but full re-charges take between six to eight hours, depending on state-of-charge. Take note, said battery pack also boasts a ‘regen’ function when braking or coasting downhill.

Elsewhere, the Yadea GT20 rolls on 12-inch wheels (cast alloy up front) whilst riding on twin rear shocks at the rear. It also has a front disc brake that works in tandem with a ‘Combined Braking System’ (CBS) that’s common amongst small-cc scooters.

The Yadea GT20 also 'CBS' brakes plus a twin rwar shock setup.

Moreover, the Yadea GT20 sees riders able to choose between two riding modes, whilst the digital instrumentation mentioned prior also has a smart fault monitor system showing real-time energy management and system malfunction alerts.

Available in three colour schemes, the Yadea GT20 is now open for purchase through authorised dealers where it commands a base price tag (RRP) of RM4,998.

Take note, said figure does NOT include on-road registration and insurance costs, and that final on-road costs may vary from dealer to dealer.
